Local Fishing Report: Monday 24/12/2012

Noosa; Get out early ahead of the increasing winds with the southerly change, Try for snapper, spotty and spanish mackerel and cobia on local reefs like Sunshine, a 13kg Cobia was taken on North Reef the other day. Whiting and dart off Teewah Beach Whiting, flathead and trevally in Weyba Creek. Whiting and a few grunter and trevally to 2kg in Woods bays. Mangrove jacks from Tewantin, and a few good muddies between the lakes.
Maroochydore: Good quality dusky flathead taken in the Bli Bli area. Jack in Petrie and around the motorway Bridge pylons. Whiting in Maroochy Waters Canal, Twin Waters stretch and off the beach at Mudjimba. Bream to 650g and jacks to 45cm on mullet over night. Been some good mud crabs taken in the middle and upper reaches.
Kawana: Mackerel and cobia on local reefs. A few whiting and dart along Kawana Beach. A hairtail was caught in the canal system. Whiting and giant herring from Mountain Creek. Whiting and flathead in the basin. Jack in Kawana Waters and around McKenzies Bridge, Mountain Creek area. Big bream on soft plastics around the moorings.
Caloundra; There has been a few catches of golden trevally and tarpon in the top end of the passage. Trevally, jack and mud crabs in the Pelican Waters Canals and Coochin Creek. Good whiting and plenty of average flathead with quite a few quality fish to 60 and 70cm in the top end of the Passage. Sand crabs in the channel between the bar and Golden Beach.
