Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2013-12-07

Today is looking like the best day for offshore for a while, with easterly 15 to 20 knots decreasing to about 10 knots early in the morning then increasing to 10 to 15 knots again in the late afternoon. So be ready to chase a few spotty and school mackerel around the NW Fairway Buoy and Old Woman Island, spotty mackerel, red throat emperor and sweetlip on Coolum Reef, snapper, grassy sweetlip, spotty and school mackerel at Murphys, Sunshine and North Reefs.

Noosa: Trevally, flathead, bream, whiting and school jew at the Noosa River mouth. Bream and flathead in the Frying Pan. Whiting, mangrove jack and some excellent Flathead to 68cm from Weyba Creek and flathead, bream and school jew along the Tewantin reach.

Maroochydore: Dart, and flathead along Mudjimba and Marcoola Beaches. Whiting to 39cm between Chambers and Goat Islands. Mud crabs in the creeks. Flathead at the mouth of the creeks, jack in Petrie Creek and jack and mud crabs in the upper reaches of the river.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches and trevally and bream in the upper reaches of the Mooloolah River. Bream and a few reasonable trevally feeding around the mooring. Jacks in the upper river and Kawana Waters. A few sand crabs in the lower river whiting and flathead along the beaches and bream in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River.

Caloundra: A few sweetlip off the rocks at Shelly Beach, bream, dart and whiting along Dicky Beach, dart and bream at the northern end of Bribie Island. Try for flathead and queenfish on live bait along the Boardwalk, whiting off the banks near Military Jetty and mangrove jack at the entrance to the canals and the creeks that enter the Passage.
