Local Fishing Report: Friday 2014-10-10


Good conditions for the weekend with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots and seas are around 1m with 1m of easterly swell. Similar conditions tomorrow!  Big pearl perch, Maori Cod and tusk fish  from North Reef yesterday. Snapperand the odd coral trout at Chardons Reef. Sweetlip, snapper, tuskies and big estuary cod on the Gneerings and off Caloundra. Big cobia, sweetlip and pearl perch on sunshine reef.  Cobia, snapper and pearl perch at Caloundra Wide and 12 Mile, longtail tuna off Mooloolaba. Snapper and pearlies on the banks.


Noosa; Good trevally around 2kg, bream and flatheada round the Noosa River mouth. Whiting, bream, flathead and trevally along the Noosaville reach and in Woods Bay, in the Frying Pan and off Munna Point. Jacks and bream off Woods Point. Whiting, cod, moses perch and bream in Weyba Creek. Flathead and bream along the Tewantin reach. A few mud crabs in the creeks and upper river.

Maroochydore: There are still plenty of herring working their way up and down the river on the daily tides. Dusky flathead in the lower Maroochy and around Bli Bli. Good trevally and tailor in the 2kg range in the Cod Hole and Godfrey's Road. Flathead, jacks and a few chopper tailor showing up in Petrie Creek. Whiting around Goat and Channel Island over night. Mud crabs in the holes of the middle and upper river.

Kawana: Bream and trevally feeding on bait fish around the moorings. Bream and grass sweetlip from Point Cartwright. Big flathead to 60cm, trevally to 2kg and bream 30cm from McKenzie's bridge area and Minyama Island with the better quality fish at night. Whiting and flathead in sand basin and in Mountain Creek.

Caloundra: Squid off the rocks at Kings, Moffat and Shelly Beaches. Flathead on the NE tip of Bribie Island and on soft plastics along the drop offs in Pumicestone Passage. Grunter bream along Roys reach. Whiting and flathead at the mouth of Bells Creek. Mangrove jack around Pelican Waters Bridge.
