Local Fishing Report: Friday 2014-10-17

Offshore

It will be a bit choppy today for small craft with winds south to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas will be 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres during the morning. A few quality snapper and tuna in Luguna Bay. There have been good catches the past few days of snapper, sweetlip, tuna and big cobia from North Reef.  Sweetlip, snapper, tuskies and big estuary cod on the Gneerings and off Caloundra 12 mile  Cobia, snapper and pearl perch at Caloundra Wide and 12 Mile. Snapper and pearlies on the banks.

Estuaries

Noosa: There are some excellent quality whiting throughout the river at present. Bream, whiting and flathead around the river mouth. Trevally in Woods Bays. Jack off Woods Point and between the lakes. Whiting, cod, moses perch and bream in Weyba Creek. Flathead and bream along the Tewantin reach. Bass from the everglades.

Maroochydore: Jacks to 49cm in Petrie Creek. Big bream, jacks and flathead in the southern Channel. School jew, trevally to 2.5kg, tailor, a few good dusky flathead and the odd Milk fish in the Cod Hole. Mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Kawana: Bream, dart and whiting along the beaches, bream. Trevally on the making tide along the rock walls at the mouth of the Mooloolah River and mud crabs in the canals. Bream and grass sweetlip from Point Cartwright. Flathead, trevally and bream from McKenzie's bridge area.

Caloundra: Whiting from Golden and Bulcock beaches. Whiting and flathead at the mouth of Bells Creek. Mangrove jack around Pelican Waters Bridge. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk.
