Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2014-12-04

Offshore

Todays is the last day of light winds and dry conditions with 10-15 knot N-NE winds. Seas and swell will be under 1m as well. Mulloway and Spanish mackerel and tusk fish on North Reef. Spanish and spotty Mackeral on Sunshine Reef and out from the national park. Snapper, sweetlip, maori cod and tusk fish have been taken from the Gneerings. School and spotty mackerel from Raper Shoal, the 5 mile, off Kings Beach, Arkwright Shoal and old women island.

Estuaries

Noosa: Big flathead, tailor, bream, big whiting and trevally near the river mouth. Jack and big eyed trevally in Woods Bays. Bream and flathead from Noosaville and Tewantin. Good quality whiting up in the Frying Pan and opposite Munna Point and in the entrance to Lake Cooroibah. Mangrove jack in between the lakes from the Noosaville reach to Lake Cootharaba.

Maroochydore: Trevally, mangrove jack from Dunethin Rock. Giant, golden trevally and tailor between the Godfrey's Road and Twin Waters on trolled SureCatch Ace Jerk and Zerek long trail lures. Flathead, whiting, tailor and bream from Picnic Point. Good numbers of quality whiting in the lower river and from Bli Bli on the high tide. Mud crabs in the deeper channel of the middle and upper reaches.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches, bream, flathead and whiting in the Mooloolah River. Bream with the bigger fish at night around the moorings. Whiting from La Balsa sand basin. Whiting and mangrove jack in Mountain Creek. Trevally and Jack from McKenzies bridge. Muddies on the move in the canal system.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along the beaches and bream at dawn and dusk at Moffat Beach. Good trevally and whiting in Currimundi Lake. Flathead, bream and golden trevally around the Boardwalk. Whiting and trevally opposite the Power Boat Club and at Bells Creek mouth. A few sand and mud crabs throughout Pumicestone Passage and in the creeks.

Michael and Lachlan Hutchinson Whiting 38cm Maroochy

Michael and Lachlan Hutchinson caught a good feed of whiting to 38cm in the lower Maroochy River yesterday.
