Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2014-12-11

Offshore

Winds are Northerly 15 to 25 knots shifting south to southeasterly in the middle of the day. Winds reaching up to 30 knots during the afternoon and evening. Seas are increasing to 2-3m in the afternoon with swell increasing to 1-1.5m by evening.

Estuaries

Noosa: Bream, trevally, mangrove jack and flathead at the Noosa River mouth. Bream and flathead along the Tewantin reach and flathead at Noosaville. Jack and big eyed trevally in Woods Bays. Good quality whiting up in the Frying Pan and opposite Munna Point and in the entrance to Lake Cooroibah. Mangrove jack in between the lakes from the Noosaville reach to Lake Cootharaba.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack in Petrie Creek, from Bli Bli and the islands. Trevally, tailor to 60cm, flathead released to 90cm in the cod hole. Trevally and school jew from Godfrey's Road and Twin Waters. Whiting and bream from Chambers Island. Mud crabs in the deeper channel of the middle and upper reaches. Sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Kawana: Mangrove jacks in Lake Kawana, Mountain Creek and McKenzies Bridge area. Bigger bream at night around the moorings. Whiting from La Balsa sand basin and Mountain Creek. Muddies on the move in the canal system.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along the beaches and bream at dawn and dusk at Moffat Beach. Good trevally and whiting in Currimundi Lake. Flathead, bream and golden trevally around the Boardwalk. Whiting and trevally opposite the Power Boat Club and at Bells Creek mouth and tarpon around Pelican Waters Bridge. A few sand and mud crabs throughout Pumicestone Passage and in the creeks.
