Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2014-10-15

Offshore

Winds will be 10 knots variable becoming easterly 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day then tending northeasterly in the late evening. Seas are around 1m, with swell increasing to 1-2m offshore. Cobia and tuna in Luguna Bay. There have been good catches the past few days with, big pearl perch, Maori Cod and tusk fish  from North Reef.  Sweetlip, snapper, tuskies and big estuary cod on the Gneerings and off Caloundra 12 mile. Big cobia, sweetlip and pearl perch on sunshine reef.  Cobia, snapper and pearl perch at Caloundra Wide and 12 Mile. Snapper and pearlies on the banks.

Estuaries

Noosa: The bait schools in the lower river have the fish on the bite. Whiting throughout the lower reaches. Bream, whiting and flathead around the river mouth. Trevally in Woods Bays. Jacks off Woods Point and between the lakes. Whiting, cod, moses perch and bream in Weyba Creek. Flathead and bream along the Tewantin reach. Bass from the everglades.

Maroochydore: Jacks to 49cm in Petrie Creek. Whiting over night along black banks and around Bli Bli reach. Dusky flathead and a few whiting around the Bli Bli Islands. School jew, trevally to 2.5kg, tailor, a few good dusky flathead and the odd Milk fish in the Cod Hole. Mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Kawana: Bream, dart and whiting along the beaches, bream. Trevally on the making tide along the rock walls at the mouth of the Mooloolah River and mud crabs in the canals. Bream and grass sweetlip from Point Cartwright. Big flathead to 60cm, trevally to 2kg and bream 30cm from McKenzie's bridge area and Minyama Island with the better quality fish at night.

Caloundra: Squid off the rocks at Kings, Moffat and Shelly Beaches. Flathead on the NE tip of Bribie Island and on soft plastics along the drop offs in Pumicestone Passage. Grunter bream along Roys reach. Whiting and flathead at the mouth of Bells Creek. Mangrove jack around Pelican Waters Bridge.

Kevin Hade Southern Channel 37cm Bream

Kevin Hade was fishing from a jetty in the southern channel when he caught this 37cm yellow fin bream on a live silver biddy.
