Local Fishing Report: Friday 2015-08-28

Offshore

Excellent conditions today with a north to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots tending northwest to southwesterly before dawn then becoming variable about 10 knots in the middle of the day. Seas will be around 1 metre. The Coffees and North Reef have had teraglin jewfish, moses perch, pearl perch, gold spot cod, frying pan snapper, bonito and sweetlip, with great conditions; Pearl perch, snapper tuskfish, gold spotted wrasse, hussar and amberjack on the Barwon Banks and at Caloundra Wide. Snapper, sweetlip and amberjack at Caloundra 12 Mile, snapper at Currimundi Reef and Bray Rock, snapper at Caloundra 9 Mile and school mackerel on the Inner Gneerings.

Estuaries

Noosa: Tailor, dart and bream along Teewah Beach. A nice 80cm jew was taken in the lower estuary, just after the top of the tide. Plenty of bream in the deep holes and around structure throughout the Noosa River. A few whiting in the Frying Pan and trevally and solid flathead in Woods Bay. Flathead between Tewantin Marina and Makepeace Island and trevally, bream, whiting and flathead from the ferry crossing to the mouth of Lake Cooroibah.

Maroochydore: Sundays Full moon will have a bit of fish feeding activity coming up and over the weekend. Try for bream, dart and tailor in the gutters at Mudjimba. Tailor and trevally along Oyster Bank Road. Bream, trevally, and a few chopper tailor feeding and flathead between the Cod Hole and Chambers Island. Lots flathead from the creek mouths. Whiting and flathead from Dunethin Rock area.

Kawana: Tailor off the rocks and a few small snapper at Point Cartwright. There's been bream, a few school mackerel and tailor at the river mouth. Still heaps of bream and golden trevally from the moorings. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin.

Caloundra: It's worth trying for tailor, bream and a few jew along the beaches and off the tip of Bribie. Flathead off Golden Beach and bream and flathead in the Blue Hole. Try for luderick, trevally and tailor off the Boardwalk area. Flathead in the mouth of Bells Creek and sand crabs south of Bells.

The crews on Top Catch Charters have been taking a few big pearl perch to 59cm off the Barwon Banks.
