Local Fishing Report: Friday 2015-12-11

Offshore

Winds will be northerly at 10 knots increasing to 10-15 knots during the morning with seas below 1 metre. Top Catch Charters has had some great catches with pelagics in good numbers of mahi mahi from the banks and the 50m line, also on the banks are tuna, mackerel, cobia, red throat emperor, maori cod, squire, coronation trout, tusk fish, fusilier, trevally and amberjack. The nine mile and twelve mile at Caloundra produced mackerel, cobia, sweetlip, tusk fish, hussar, squire, pearl perch and estuary cod.

Estuaries

Noosa: Reasonable numbers of tailor and whiting along the Noosa north shore and trevally in size around Tewantin boat ramp. There's been some quality flathead and trevally caught in the late afternoon at Woods Bay. Weyba Creek producing Moses perch, estuary cod and flathead all in good numbers. Whiting and bream around the dog beach. Flathead, bream, tailor and trevally at the Noosa River mouth with a few sand and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches.

Maroochydore: Whiting the early mornings around Picnic Point, Chambers Island. Estuary cod, flathead, and mangrove jack in the Maroochy Waters canal. Flathead and bream in numbers in the mouth of Eudlo Creek and behind Chambers Island. Mangrove jack in the upper reaches and through Petrie Creek. Whiting and dart from the sandbags. Mud crabs in the deeper holes of the middle and upper river with sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Kawana: Good dart and whiting along the beaches. Whiting, trevally, bream and gar from the boat mooring and in the Kawana canals. Trevally along the rock walls around the river mouth. A few big flathead and whiting in the sand basin as well as trevally around Minyama Island. Mangrove jack in the middle river with trevally, flathead and mangrove jack caught in Mountain Creek, in and around the bridge pylons and snaggy banks.

Caloundra: Dart, bream and flathead along the beaches as well as trevally and queenfish on the Happy Valley side of the Bar. Golden Beach and the mouth of Bells Creek both producing whiting, with flathead and jewfish in the drop offs and deeper holes around the Passage. Trevally in the canals and mangrove jack around the bridge pylons and rock walls.
