Local Fishing Report: Monday 2015-09-28

Offshore

Good conditions today with winds blowing south-easterly below 10 knots becoming east to northeasterly in the morning. Seas are 1m with 1 - 2m SE swell.

Estuaries

Noosa: There's a few quality whiting in the lower river. Flathead 65cm and 68cm recently in Woods Bay and flathead around the flats between Tewantin Marina and Makepeace Island and at Munna Point. Still bream around the structures and deep holes throughout the river. Mangrove jack in the deep holes in Noosa Sound and Woods Bay, bream, whiting and trevally at the entrance to Lake Cooroibah and mud crabs in the Lakes.

Maroochydore: A 66cm queenfish taken off Yinni St. Giant trevally and school jew in the cod hole. Flathead from Bli Bli Islands. Mangrove jack from the rocks bars in Petrie Creek. Good flathead in Petrie Creek, Bli Bli and Chambers Island. School jew in the deeper holes between Bli Bli bridge and Coolum Creek. Mud crabs between Bli Bli Islands and Coolum Creek, also up Petrie creek. Whiting in the lower river on low tide.

Kawana: Still a few good bream and golden trevally from the moorings, rock walls and lower river with better quality fish over night and dawn and dusk. Trevally, flathead and mud crabs in Mountain Creek and the canals. Golden Trevally, around Minyama Island. Jew over night, whiting a few mangrove jack around McKenzies Bridge. Good catches of sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Caloundra: Bream and a few mangrove jack showing up in the canals and a few mangrove jack on live bait and lures in Bells Creek. Good quality flathead along the drop offs throughout the Passage. Whiting and flathead in Coochin Creek. Whiting opposite the mouth of Bells Creek. Some good catches of sand crabs in the passage and muddies in the creeks.
