Local Fishing Report: Monday 2015-12-21

Offshore

Conditions will be okay but with a bit of an afternoon northerly chop from the sea breeze with winds northeasterly 10 to 15 knots with seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres inshore by early evening. There were a couple of quality jew taken at North Reef. Top catch Charters report good catches on The Barwon Banks, Murphy’s reef and the Gneerings, with the banks has been reliable as always especially for the pelagic species like mahi mahi, wahoo and some little yellow fin and blue fin tuna. The bottom fished well for red throat emperor, maori cod, moses perch, fusilier, amberjack, spangled emperor, squire, tusk fish and the odd big cod. In closer we have been getting squire, tusk fish, moses perch, hussar, coral trout, sweetlip, maori cod and spotted mackerel.
