Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2015-11-07

Offshore

Okay except for the choppy northerly conditions with winds North to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening. Similar conditions tomorrow only with a southerly change with northwesterly 15 to 20 knots shifting southeasterly during the morning.. Wild Thing 2 fished Sunshine Reef and came back with moses perch, red throat emperor, venus tusk fish, Maori cod, slate bream and brown line sea perch. Quality Cobia as well as snapper, moses perch, pearl perch, teraglin jewfish and venus tusk fish at North Reef. Recently there's cobia, moses perch and tuskfish and a few quality sweetlip and snapper on the Outer Gneerings and Caloundra 9 and 12 mile reefs.

Estuaries

Noosa: There's been plenty of good quality flathead in the 60 to 70cm range, bream, whiting and trevally at the Noosa River mouth and along the Noosaville reach and in Woods Bay. Mangrove jack to 50cm taken in Noosa Sound and between the lakes. A few flathead, plenty of bream, whiting and moses perch in Weyba Creek. Flathead, bream and grunter bream along the Tewantin reach.

Maroochydore: Heaps of herring bait fish around Chambers Island. A few quality flathead 80 to 93cm released at night, a 65cm tailor plus 1m hairtail Thursday, golden and giant trevally and bream in the Cod Hole. Dusky flathead and a few grunter bream from the mouth of Eudlo Creek. Whiting in the lower reaches. School jew from Bli Bli. Mud crab in Eudlo creek and the Bli Bli reach. Mangrove jack in the upper reaches.

Kawana: Dart, whiting and a few chopper tailor along the beaches. Trevally, bream and gar from the boat mooring and in the Kawana canals. Flathead and whiting in the sand basin. Diamond and golden trevally around Minyama Island. Trevally and flathead from Mountain Creek. Mangrove jack in the middle river around the snaggy banks. Good catches of quality sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along Dicky Beach and a few tailor at Wurtulla. Flathead at the start of the incoming tide on the Caloundra side of the bar. Good flathead with some over the maximum size released and trevally from Military jetty area. Trevally a few mangrove jack showing up in the canals and creeks and bream along The Boardwalk. Catches of sand crabs in the passage and muddies in the creeks.

Robert Whiting takes a nice tailor and another monster hairtail a few days before he has to return to freezing conditions in England.
