Local Fishing Report: Sunday 2015-08-23

Offshore

Reasonable conditions with a bit of a northerly chop with winds northerly 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres south of Maroochydore during the afternoon. Pearl perch, snapper, tuskfish, mulloway and moses perch on North Reef. Pearl perch, snapper tuskfish, gold spotted wrasse, hussar and amberjack on the Barwon Banks and at Caloundra Wide. Snapper, sweetlip and amberjack at Caloundra 12 Mile, snapper at Currimundi Reef and Bray Rock, snapper at Caloundra 9 Mile and school mackerel on the Inner Gneerings.

Estuaries

Noosa: Try for chopper tailor, dart and bream along Teewah Beach. Still worth trying for luderick at the river mouth car park rocks. Bream in the deep holes and around structure throughout the Noosa River. A few whiting in the Frying Pan, trevally and the odd mangrove jack in Woods Bay. Flathead between Tewantin Marina and Makepeace Island and trevally, bream, whiting and flathead from the ferry crossing to the mouth of Lake Cooroibah.

Maroochydore: Try for tailor and jew at night off the beaches. Bream, trevally, and a few chopper tailor feeding and flathead between the Cod Hole and Chambers island. Lots flathead from the creek mouths particularly in Petrie and Eudlo Creeks. Giant trevally and good size flathead from Godfrey's Road. Whiting and flathead from Dunethin Rock area.

Kawana: There dart, bream and whiting along the beaches. Bream and a few school mackerel and tailor particularly over night off the rock walls at the river mouth and feeding up towards the trawler moorings. Flathead from Brightwater stretch. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin.

Caloundra: Chopper tailor, bream and a few jew along the beaches and off the tip of Bribie. Plenty of flathead along the Golden beach stretch. Bream and flathead in the Blue hole. There has been a few big whiting, still a few luderick and trevally around the Boardwalk area and and trevally in the canals. Flathead in the mouth of Bells Creek and sand crabs south of Bells.

Ben Forgan released this 70cm jewie yesterday, up towards Bli Bli using a 4 inch plastic and was great fun on 6 lb Line and there's lots of trevally around still about as well.
