Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2015-09-17

Offshore

Winds will be north to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending west to northwesterly in the late evening. Seas around 1 to 1.5m metres, with east to southeasterly below 1 metre swell. Unfortunatly there'll be strong southerly winds and big seas are forcast for tomorrow. Sunshine Reef had moses perch, venus tusk fish, slate bream, coral bream and coral trout. North Reef's had catches of moses perch, teraglin jewfish, venus tusk fish, sweetlip, gold spot cod and coral trout. Grassy sweetlip, spangled emperor and small snapper on Murphys Reef, Arkwright Shoal and the Inner Gneerings, pearl perch and amberjack at Wide Caloundra, snapper at Caloundra 5 Mile and the NW Fairway Buoy, longtail tuna offshore from Moffat Beach. Grass sweetlip, snapper and spangled emperor from Murphy's Reef. Snapper, school mackerel and bream at Raper Shoal.

Estuaries

Noosa: There's tailor, dart and a few flathead along North Shore and along the southern beaches. Theres the odd big whiting to 38cm showing up in the lower river and tailor early morning at the Noosa River mouth and Frying Pan. Flathead, bream and whiting along the ski run at Tewantin and sand crabs in the lower reaches. Golden trevally, queenfish and solid flathead in Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: Chopper tailor at the river mouth. Bream to 43cm in Maroochy Waters. Flathead from Bli Bli, Chambers Island and the Cod Hole including a 60cm dusky. Big bream to 40cm off Chambers Island and in the river mouth particularly over night. Bream, trevally and flathead between the Cod Hole. School jew in the deeper holes between Bli Bli bridge and Coolum Creeks. Mud crabs from the wetland stretch and in the canals.

Kawana: Try for tailor and jew at dawn and dusk along Kawana Beach and bream and tailor along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth. Still a few good bream and golden trevally from the moorings, rock walls and lower river with better quality fish over night and dawn and dusk. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin and flathead. Trevally, flathead and mud crabs in Mountain Creekand the canals.

Caloundra: Still bream along the beaches, squid off the rocks at Moffat Beach. Bream and a few mangrove jack showing up in the canals. Try on the tip of Bribie Island for tailor, flathead and whiting. Good quality flathead along the drop offs throughout the Passage. Whiting at the mouth of Coochin and Bells Creeks and school jew near Pelican Waters Bridge.
