Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2015-09-01

Offshore

Great conditions continue with west to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots decreasing to about 10 knots in the morning then tending north to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots in the early afternoon. Seas below 1 metre. There's been schools of big yellowfin tuna 19.5kg at North Reef the past couple of days as well as squire, goat fish, pearl perch, venus tusk fish and moses perch. Chardon's Reef have had venus tusk fish, hussar, pearl perch and cobia. Double Islandhad quality jew, yellowtail kingfish, cobia, gold spot cod, pearl perch, gold band snapper. There's been pearl perch, snapper tusk fish, gold spotted wrasse, hussar and amberjack on the Barwon Banks and at Caloundra Wide. Snapper, sweetlip and amberjack at Caloundra 12 Mile, snapper at Currimundi Reef and Bray Rock, snapper at Caloundra 9 Mile and school mackerel on the Inner Gneerings.

Estuaries

Noosa: Tailor, dart and bream along Teewah Beach. Good whiting and a 65cm flathead at the river mouth and a 64cm flathead caught and released in Weyba Creek. There's jew and cale cale in the lower estuary, feeding just after the top of the tide. Plenty of bream in the deep holes and around structure throughout the River. Trevally and solid flathead in Woods Bay and flathead, trevally and bream in Lake Cooroibah and a 108cm threadfin salmon was caught and released in the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: Try for bream, dart and tailor in the gutters at Mudjimba. Trevally along Oyster Bank Road. Bream, trevally, and a few chopper tailor feeding and flathead between the Cod Hole and Chambers Island. Lots flathead are feeding throughout the river, worth trying Zerek 5" Flat Shad's. Whiting and flathead from between Bli Bli Islands. Mud crabs in the middle river.

Kawana: Tailor and jew overnight along Kawana Beach and school mackerel off the rocks at Point Cartwright. Still heaps of bream and golden trevally from the moorings, rock walls and lower river. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin and flathead, bream and school jew in the canals.

Caloundra: Chopper tailor and flathead and bream at night at the northern end of Bribie Island. Whiting at the mouth of Coochin and Bells Creeks and it is worth trying for luderick along the Boardwalk and school jew near Pelican Waters Bridge. Flathead along the drop offs in the Passage and bream around Military and the Coastguard Jetties.
