Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2015-08-26

Offshore

Winds will be a bit choppy with northwesterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore early in the morning. Winds becoming variable about 10 knots in the middle of the day then becoming north to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the late afternoon. Seas will be 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the morning. Wild Thing 2 fished Chardon's Reef on Monday for venus tusk fish, pearl perch, jewfish, gold spot cod, coral bream and moses perch. Pearl perch, snapper, tuskfish, mulloway and moses perch on North Reef. Pearl perch, snapper tuskfish, gold spotted wrasse, hussar and amberjack on the Barwon Banks and at Caloundra Wide. Snapper, sweetlip and amberjack at Caloundra 12 Mile, snapper at Currimundi Reef and Bray Rock, snapper at Caloundra 9 Mile and school mackerel on the Inner Gneerings.

Estuaries

Noosa: Chopper tailor, dart and bream along Teewah Beach. Still worth trying for luderick at the river mouth car park rocks. Plenty of bream in the deep holes and around structure throughout the Noosa River. A few whiting in the Frying Pan, trevally and the odd mangrove jack in Woods Bay. Flathead between Tewantin Marina and Makepeace Island and trevally, bream, whiting and flathead from the ferry crossing to the mouth of Lake Cooroibah.

Maroochydore: Bream and tailor in the gutters at Mudjimba. Quality bream and tailor from both sides of the river mouth. Tailor and trevally along Oyster Bank Road. Bream, trevally, and a few chopper tailor feeding and flathead between the Cod Hole and Chambers island. Lots flathead from the creek mouths. Tailor at dusk between Goat and Chambers Island. Whiting and flathead from Dunethin Rock area.

Kawana: Tailor off the rocks at Point Cartwright. Bream up to 1kg, a few school mackerel and tailor at the river mouth. Still heaps of bream and golden trevally from the moorings. Flathead from Brightwater stretch. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin.

Caloundra: Chopper tailor, bream and a few jew along the beaches and off the tip of Bribie. Tailor and sweetlip off the headlands. Plenty of flathead along the Golden beach stretch. Bream and flathead in the Blue hole. Try for luderick, trevally and tailor off the Boardwalk area. Flathead in the mouth of Bells Creek and sand crabs south of Bells.

6kg amberjack and 6kg spangled emperor from the banks

The crews on Top Catch Charters have been taking a few amberjack and spangled emperor recently on the Banks.
