Local Fishing Report: Monday 2017-11-06

Offshore

Winds and conditions for today particularly early, are probably okay for offshore with east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots turning northerly 15 to 20 knots in the late morning and seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon. Tomorrow wind conditions will be choppy with northerly’s 15 to 20 knots tending northwesterly during the morning then shifting southeasterly during the day and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres offshore south of Maroochydore. Trekka 2 crews fished North Reef and caught snapper, moses perch, tusk fish, sea bream, trag jew and quality pearl perch to 61cm. They also fished The Hards for snapper, sea bream, iron jaw jobfish, rosy jobfish, spangled emperor, tusk fish, moses perch and pearl perch. Also the crews on Wild Thing 2 fished D.I.P on Thursday where they caught pearl perch, Maori cod, tusk fish, moses perch, goldband snapper, squire, gold spot cod and mulloway. The crews on Cougar One fished Sunshine Reef where they caught pearl perch, red emperor, tusk fish and small snapper. Also quality amberjacks, parrot and snapper from Murphy’s Reef. Moses perch, venus tusk fish, gold spot wrasse, pearl perch, snapper, hussar and gold band snapper from the Barwon Banks. There still picking up good quality red emperor along with coral trout, snapper, tuskies big amberjack, cobia, a few hussar and nice pearl perch 25nm NE of the Wide Bay Bar.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: A few dart, whiting and bream off the beaches. A few good quality flathead caught and released up to 80cm, whiting and trevally the river mouth and in Woods bay and from the frying pan, Gympie terrace, Weyba Creek and Munna Point. A few fighting Mangrove Jack are feeding throughout the system, so target all the snaggy and structured sites for best results. Try for mud crabs throughout the river system

Maroochydore: Whiting feeding throughout the lower river particularly on the incoming tide. Flathead to 67cm, grunter, golden trevally to 1.5kg and bream in the Cod Hole. Few good quality mangrove jack showing up in the upper river. Golden trevally from Twin waters. Whiting up to 38cm taken of the sand banks around Bli Bli. Plenty of reports og good mud crabs are moving in the middle and lower river, creeks and canals.

Mooloolaba: Golden trevally, a few decent cod and bream off the rock walls and La Balsa stretch. Whiting from the flats above McKenzies bridge and in Mountain Creek. Few jack showing up in the upper river and around the structures in the canals,Whiting and flathead from the sand basin. Mud crabs in the lower river and canals.

Caloundra: Flathead, trevally and bream from the boardwalk. Whiting from Golden Beach and the bar on the banks. Mud crabs and Mangrove jack around structures and snaggy areas and moving throughout the passage, the creek and canals.
