Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2017-10-03

Offshore

Strong Wind Warning for today in Sunshine Coast Waters through the morning and into the afternoon, with winds east to northeasterly 25 to 30 knots shifting northwesterly 10 to 15 knots from the east during the morning then becoming variable about 10 knots in the evening with seas 2 to 3 metres, decreasing to 1 to 2 metres during the morning, then decreasing below 1 metre by early evening. Then tomorrow yippee, good conditions with northwest to southwesterly below 10 knots, becoming south to southeasterly about 10 knots during the morning and seas below 1 metre. So get ready for the better conditions tomorrow to chase a few snapper, Maori cod and tusk fish from Murphy’s Reef. Snapper, sweetlip and moses perch from the Blinker. There have been Moses perch, flathead, gold spot cod, big cobia to 50kg and snapper from the gneerings. Tuskfish, snapper, pig fish and pearl perch from the Barwon Banks. Double Island Point has Moses perch, flathead, gold spot cod, quality cobia, and snapper. North Reef caught pearl perch, moses perch, coral bream, venus tusk fish, snapper, Maori cod and plenty of good cobia.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Whiting throughout the lower river. Golden trevally and big flathead in the Woods Bays, the river mouth and off Munna Point. Branson Island and the ski run have produced golden trevally and big flathead. Grunter, cod, jacks and flathead between the lakes. Cod, bream and flathead in Weyba Creek.

Maroochydore: Plenty of trevally, also big flathead, cod and jacks the Maroochy Waters Canal and in the Cod Hole. Whiting and flathead on the between Chambers and Channel Island. Flathead from Bli Bli flats and the creek mouths. Trevally to 60cm in Maroochy Waters Canal. Sand crabs in the lower river. Mangrove jacks, trevally, cod and jew from the rock bars in the middle and upper river.

Mooloolaba: Try for dart and tarwhine from Kawana Beach. Cod, bream and trevally in Parrearra Channel. Trevally and bream off the rock walls. Mangrove jack from the rock bars in the upper river. Trevally and cod around Minyama Island. Whiting and flathead from the sand basin. Flathead around McKenzie’s Bridge.

Caloundra: When conditions improve go for grass sweetlip and trevally from Moffat Head. Whiting and bream in Currimundi Lake. Jacks and trevally in Currimundi Creek. Getting a few good quality flathead inside the bar, off the Northern tip of Bribie and from the creek mouths. Whiting from Golden Beach and from the banks south of Bells Creek. Trevally and cod in Pelican Waters Canal.
