Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2017-10-24


Perfect conditions for offshore boating the next two day. With winds today variable below 10 knots, tending east to northeasterly about 10 knots during the afternoon with seas Below 1 metre. Tomorrow winds will increase and become a bit choppy being northeasterly about 10 knots tending northerly 15 to 20 knots during the morning with seas starting below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon or evening. Trekker 2 caught snapper, gold band, moses perch, hussar, venus tusk fish, rosy jobfish and pearl perch from the Hards over the weekend. Amberjacks, parrot and snapper from Murphy’s Reef. Quality coral trout, big pearl perch, red emperor and amberjack wide of Double Island Point. Moses perch, venus tusk fish,  gold spot wrasse, pearl perch, snapper, hussar and gold band snapper from the Banks.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Flathead and whiting in Woods bay. Flathead from Gympie terrace, Weyba creek and Munna Point. Mud crabs throughout the lower river, especially in all of the canal systems. Trevally and flathead the river mouth. Whiting from the frying pan.

Maroochydore: Mud crabs are moving in the middle and lower river, creeks and canals. Whiting feeding throughout the lower river particularly on the incoming tide. Flathead, grunter, golden trevally and bream in the Cod Hole. Heaps of undersize bream and and keeper flathead52cm from Chambers Island, Oyster bank road and Picnic Pt. Golden trevally from Twin waters. Whiting on sugapen stick baits from Picnic Point and in Maroochy waters canal.

Mooloolaba: Golden trevally, cod and bream off the rock walls and La Balsa stretch. Whiting from the flats above McKenzies bridge and in Mountain Creek. Whiting and flathead from the sand basin. Mud crabs in the lower river and canals.

Caloundra: Flathead, golden trevally and bream from the boardwalk. Small Gt’s and bream on the dirty water line on the making tide. Whiting from Golden Beach and the bar on the banks. Mud crabs are moving throughout the passage, bells creek and canals.
