Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2017-11-22

Offshore

Winds will be southeasterly at 15 to 20 knots, with 1 – 1.5m seas and 1.5 – 2m of swell in offshore waters. North Reef has had snapper, Coral trout,  moses perch, tusk fish, sea bream, trag jew and quality pearl perch. Double Island Point has had had good Cobia,  pearl perch, Maori cod, tusk fish, moses perch, gold band snapper, squire, gold spot cod and mulloway.  Sunshine Reef there’s  pearl perch, red emperor, tusk fish and small snapper. Also amberjacks, sweetlip parrot and snapper from Murphy’s Reef. Moses Perch, Tusk fish, snapper to 60cm and a 4kg spangled emperor’ pearl perch, mulloway and big  teraglin jewfish  taken from the middle of the Barwon Banks.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Plenty of flathead with a few good quality fish in the 70 to 85cm range being caught and released, around the lower river. Big flathead, whiting and trevally the river mouth and in Woods bay and canals in Noosa Sound. Mangrove Jack are feeding throughout the system. Mud crabs throughout the river and canal systems.

Maroochydore: Trevally between Chambers Island and the cod hole boat ramp on the making tide. Flathead from around Cotton Tree, the Cod Hole, Chambers Island and the creeks. Quality whiting feeding throughout the lower river. Few good quality mangrove jack and cod showing up in the upper river and in the creeks. Mud crabs throughout the system particularly from Petrie Creek.

Mooloolaba: Fish the gutters for whiting and dart. Golden trevally, cod and bream off the rock walls and La Balsa stretch. Whiting from the flats above McKenzies bridge and in Mountain Creek. Whiting and flathead from the sand basin. Mud crabs in the lower river and canals.

Caloundra: Flathead, trevally and bream from the boardwalk. Whiting from Golden Beach on the banks and the few dart odd, bream and flathead feeding around the bar. Mangrove jack in Currimundi creek, Coochin Creek and in Pelican Waters Canal. There are a few good quality muddies throughout all the creeks that feed into the Passage.
