Local Fishing Report: Monday 2018-04-30

Offshore

Winds will be Southerly at 15 to 25 knots, reaching up to 30 knots during the afternoon and evening. Winds turning southeasterly 20 to 25 knots in the evening, with seas around 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres around midday.  Spotted mackerel and long tail tuna in Laguna Bay. Spanish mackerel on all of the local reefs. Cod, grass sweetlip, cobia and tusk fish from Sunshine Reef and the Barwon Banks. Long tail tuna out from Mooloolaba, Coolum and Caloundra.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Whiting and flathead, bream and trevally from the River mouth and lower river. A few queenfish, trevally in Woods bays. Mangrove jack around the structures and snaggy areas. Mud crabs throughout river.

Maroochydore: A lot of school jew, bream and big trevally in the Cod Hole. Flathead between 30 and 50cm are in good numbers around Chambers Island. Jacks from Bli Bli reach. Flathead from Picnic point. Bream and nice golden trevally from the river mouth. Still big mud crabs throughout the river.

Mooloolaba: Trevally and some good size bream around the rocks walls and Jetties in the lower river. Trevally and flathead from La Balsa Basin and mangrove jack around the structures and rock walls. Mud crabs and some quality flathead in the creeks and canals.

Caloundra: Bream and grass sweetlip off the rocks at Moffat beach. Trevally, jack and cod in Pelican Waters Canals and local creeks that feed into the passage. Whiting to 40cm, bream and flathead around 40-50cm along the golden beach stretch. Chopper tailor and grunter bream from the mouth of Coochin Creek. Muddies in the creeks.
