Local Fishing Report: Sunday 2018-04-29

Offshore

Still worth sticking to sheltered waters, with winds today southerly 20 to 25 knots.   As conditions improve next week you can expect good spotted mackerel in Laguna Bay and Spanish mackerel to be feeding right along the coast. Reports also of Spanish mackerel, cod, grass sweetlip, cobia and tusk fish from Sunshine Reef and the Barwon Banks. Long tail tuna out from Mooloolaba.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Whiting and flathead, bream and trevally from the River mouth and lower river. A few queenfish, trevally in Woods bays. Mangrove jack around the structures and snaggy areas. Mud crabs throughout river.

Maroochydore: Mondays Full Moon will have the fish on the bite. A lot of school jew, bream and big trevally in the Cod Hole. Jacks from Bli Bli reach. Flathead from Picnic point. Bream and nice golden trevally from the river mouth. Still big mud crabs throughout the river.

Mooloolaba: Trevally and some good size bream around the rocks walls and Jetties in the lower river. Trevally and flathead from La Balsa Basin and mangrove jack around the structures and rock walls. Mud crabs and some quality flathead in the creeks and canals.

Caloundra: Trevally, jack and cod in Pelican Waters Canals and local creeks that feed into the passage. Whiting, chopper tailor, bream, grunter and flathead on the flats between the bar and Golden Beach and in the creek mouths. Muddies in the creeks.
