Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2018-07-12

Offshore

There should be some good fish feeding activity today and right through the weekend with tomorrows, Friday the 13th Black or New Moon Phase, so what are you waiting for. Winds will be east to southeasterly about 10 knots. Winds inshore tending south to southeasterly in the morning, with seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow Friday the 13th conditions will be good with winds south to southwesterly about 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots during the day and seas below 1 metre. There's been good catches of snapper including big knobbies to 7kg on Sunshine and  North Reef as well as coral trout, Spanish mackerel, yellow tail kingfish and grass sweetlip and also a few cobia. Snapper and tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile. Snapper and sweetlip from Currimundi. has had jew, good snapper and cobia showing up. Grass sweetlip, cobia, cod, quality snapper and tusk fish from the Barwon Banks.  Snapper, cod, moses perch, spotty mackerel from Caloundra 12 mile. snapper and sweetlip from Currimundi. Big snapper, cod, grass sweetlip, cobia and tusk fish from the Barwon Banks. There have been solid Red Emperor , snapper, amberjack, cod, mulloway, yellowfin tuna taken by the crews on a Rainbow Escape Charters North of Double Island Point and East of the Wide Bay Bar. The crew aboard Double Island Point Fishing Charters solid cobia, snapper, coral trout, yellow fin tuna, sweetlip ,pearl perch, tusk fish north of the Wide Bay Bar.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Luderick at the river mouth and lower river. Jew at night and flathead around Munna Pt, Goat and Sheep Islands. Trevally along the Tewantin Reach. Golden trevally in woods bays and the canals. Chopper tailor, jew at night and a few whiting in the lower river. Quality bream and trevally from the River mouth.

Maroochydore: Try for jew, tailor, dart and bream in the gutters between Mudjimba and Marcoola. Bream, flathead, dart and tailor from the river mouth. Jew and cod in the Cod Hole. Jew at night from the Bli Bli stretch. Flathead, big whiting, soul, golden trevally and bream to 40cm from Channel Island and in the south channel.

Mooloolaba: Tailor and golden trevally in the lower river. Quality bream around McKenzies Bridge, the rock walls and the Kawana Boat Ramp. Average size grass sweetlip and big bream off the rocks at Point Cartwright. Gar in the La Balsa sand basin. Sand crabs in Kawana Waters.

Caloundra: Big bream and grass sweetlip off Moffat Head. Bream and tailor from Shelly Beach. Luderick, bream, golden trevally and flathead off the boardwalk. Bream, flathead and whiting along Golden beach. Trevally, cod, tailor and bream in Pelican Waters Canal.
