Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2018-09-20

Offshore

Strong Wind Warning for Thursday for Sunshine Coast Waters.  Conditions should be okay early in the day ahead of the strong winds in the evening with northwesterly 15 to 20 knots shifting south to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots from the late morning then becoming southerly 20 to 30 knots in the late evening and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the afternoon.Tomorrow will have pretty rough conditions in offshore waters so stick to sheltered waters, with winds south to southeasterly 20 to 30 knots decreasing to 15 to 20 knots during the evening and seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres.There have been some good catches, Wild Thing 2 fished North Reef where they caught Maori cod, moses perch, tailor, coral bream, gold spot wrasse and some nice pearl perch. Snapper, long tail tuna, cobia, pearl perch, tusk fish from the Gneerings. Snapper, pearl perch, cobia, jew and tusk fish from the Barwon Banks. Average size snapper, grass sweetlip, moses perch and parrot from Murphy's. Snapper and good sweetlip close in reefs around Coolum off pt Cartwright. Rainbow Escape Charters fished the reefs north of Double Island Point for quality knobby snapper, big red emperor, large cod, coronation trout, pearl perch, moses perch, tusk fish and a number of quality cobia.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Flathead, jacks and trevally in the Woods Bays. Bream and flathead from the mouth. Noosaville has had good whiting and flathead with the bream around the structures. A few good catches of Jacks between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Bream, trevally to 60cm yesterday and flathead around the the Cod Hole and upstream to Bli Bli. Quality flathead from Eudlo Creek, Twin Waters and the southern channel. Mangrove jack in the Creeks and middle river. Quality whiting and few bream between Chambers and Channel Island.

Mooloolaba: Bream, the odd tailor and golden trevally from the boat moorings. Whiting from La Balsa Sans basin and above McKenzies Bridge. Mangrove jack from the middle river. Bream, tailor and jew at night off the rocks at Point Cartwright.

Caloundra: Whiting, bream and still a few tailor in the gutters along the beaches from the rocky headland and tip of Bribie. Whiting and bream from Golden Beach. There have been good catches of flathead throughout the passage and in the creeks and along the skids. Jacks in Coochin Creek.
