Today there will be choppy to rough conditions so best to stay in sheltered waters as winds will be southwesterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching 20 to 25 knots offshore. Winds turning south to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the evening with seas 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres by early evening. Tomorrow will be similar with southerly 15 to 25 knots and seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Before the rough conditions Double Island Point has had catches of pearl perch, moses perch, grass emperor, cobia, northern bluefin tuna, gold spot cod, trout cod, Maori cod and painted sweetlip. Big snapper on Sunshine Reef on pilly floaters down the burley trail the biggest one went 82cm. Sunshine Reef has had a few a nice Spanish mackerel, to 127cm on a trolled bonito." Sunshine and North Reef has had coral trout, Spanish mackerel, yellow tail kingfish, snapper and grass sweetlip and also a few cobia. Snapper, pearl perch, nice tusk fish and cod from local reefs out from Mooloolaba and Caloundra . Jew and sweetlip from Currimundi. has had good snapper and cobia showing up. Spanish mackerel, cod, grass sweetlip, cobia and big tusk fish from the Barwon Banks.
Estuaries and Beaches
Noosa: Try for luderick or blackfish at the car park rocks at the river mouth and lower river. Flathead around Munna Pt and good golden trevally around the sand bags. Some big flathead to 76cm been released in the lower estuary. Chopper tailor and a few good whiting caught over the weekend as well as bream and trevally from the River mouth. School jew and a jew went 91cm, threadfin salmon and still good mud crabs in between the lakes.
Maroochydore: Remember, 'The Cod Hole Fishing Comp Winter Classic' is on from the 5 - 8th July. A few good bream to 36cm feeding in the lower river. Some really nice gutters along Mudjimba and Marcoola Beach's to try for a few dart, bream and jew at night. School jew in the middle river with a few big fish taken in the Cod Hole. Several quality flathead and big whiting to 40cm caught in the lower reaches over the weekend. A few sand crabs in the lower river.
Mooloolaba: Dart in the gutter between Kawana and Wurtulla. Average size grass sweetlip and big bream off the rocks at Point Cartwright. Gar in the lower river. Quality bream feeding around the rocks walls and Jetties in the lower river. Golden and giant trevally in the middle river and canals. Its worth trying for some sand crabs around the high tide.
Caloundra: Bream off the rocks outcrops and headland between Dicky and Shelly Beaches. Tailor and bream for the NE tip of Bribie. Whiting, bream and flathead along the golden beach stretch. A few nice jew in the deeper holes throughout the passage. Some good catches of sand crabs throughout the Pumicestone Passage
