Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2018-12-05

Offshore

Great conditions most of the day today ahead of the blustery southerly change this evening with winds variable about 10 knots with a southeasterly change 20 to 25 knots in the late evening, with seas below 1 metre.Tomorrow's conditions will be rough offshore, with winds southeasterly 20 to 25 knots and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres during the morning. Snapper and Spanish Mackerel to 13 kg around Mudjimba Island, as well as spotty mackerel and small Bonito visible on surface with bait balls inside and close to the island. With North and Chardon's Reefs having tusk fish, spangled emperor, pearl perch, snapper, grass emperor and gold spot cod. Snapper, coral trout, moses perch and maori cod from Sunshine Reef. There's been a few good catches off Mooloolaba and Caloundra, like spanish mackerel, yellow tail kingfish, cobia, long tail tuna, tusk fish including some good snapper, jew and red emperor. snapper pearl perch, cobia, jew and tusk fish from the Barwon Banks. Double Island Point recently had a few big red emperor to 12 kg, good tusk fish, moses perch, coral cod, pearl perch a few quality snapper.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Several good catches of flathead, trevally and queenfish throughout the lower river. Jew in the Tewantin Reach. Plenty of flathead and whiting up in Cooroibah, mangrove jacks in the snaggy and structure areas in the upper river system and creeks. Worth putting the crab pots in! 

Maroochydore: Trevally, bream and flathead Cod Hole area. There's been several good catches of flathead throughout the river. Cod, tarwhine and bream as well as under size chopper tailor from Bli Bli. Mangrove jack in the creeks. A few keeper bucks along with many under size and female crabs to release.

Mooloolaba; Bream and trevally from the boat moorings. Some good whiting and flathead from La Balsa Sand basin. Estuary cod, flathead, bream and worth a try for a jack from the Twin Bridges. Whiting from the entrance to Mountain Creek.

Caloundra: Bream, flathead,mangrove jack trevally and a few mud crabs from the creeks that feed into the Pumicestone Passage. The Flathead, whiting and bream from Golden Beach. A few dart, bream and whiting off the beaches.
