Local Fishing Report: Monday 2019-02-18

Offshore

Winds will be blowing 10-15 knots from the southeast, with 1-1.5m seas and 2m of easterly swell. Yellow fin tuna, and spotty mackerel from Sunshine Reef. Spotty mackerel from Halls Reef. Cobia, sweetlip and tuna and some quality spanish mackerel from North Reef. Spotty mackerel from the NW fairway beacon. Spotty mackerel off Coolum Reef. Cobia, sweetlip and spotty mackerel from the Gneerings. Dolphin Fish from the caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Trevally, whiting and flathead from the river mouth. Mangrove jack and the odd jew between the lakes and in the canals. Trevally and flathead from the Tewantin ski run. Mud crabs throughout but mainly in the upper river system.

Maroochydore: There have been a few good whiting up to 42cm in the lower river around Goat and Channel island taken on yabby's, worm or small surface poppers. Flathead and bream from the river mouth. Bream and trevally at the Cod Hole. Cod and Mangrove Jack from the rock bars in the middle river. Mud crabs in the creeks and middle river. 

Mooloolaba: Bream, grunter and trevally from the moorings. Jacks and flathead in Mountain Creek an around McKenzies Bridge. Cod, mangrove jack and and muddies from the middle and upper Mooloolah River.

Caloundra: Sand crabs in in the deeper channels and sea grass beds of the northern passage and for mud crabs there as well as in the creeks. Flathead and whiting from Golden Beach and the entrance to Bell's Creek. Mangrove jack and trevally in Pelican Waters.

Mary Ann did well yesterday morning in the middle Maroochy River with a solid buck mud crab for her efforts.
