Local Fishing Report: Monday 2019-07-08

Offshore: Finally some fishable conditions in offshore waters this week. Winds will be East to southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots turning southeasterly below 10 knots during the afternoon. Light southerly winds inshore in the morning, with seas around 1m and 1.5 - 2.5m of Easterly swell. North Reefs has had a few good catches of Moses perch, pearl perch, venus tusk fish, snapper and sweetlip. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip.Snapper and tusk fish from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Spanish mackerel, snapper and tuskfish around the Blinker. Snapper and mackerel from Caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa:  Bream throughout the lower system. Whiting between makepeace Island and Lake Cooroibah. Flathead, trevally and bream in the river mouth. Flathead along the Tewantin Stretch. Trevally and flathead in Woods Bays. Trevally and the odd tailor from Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Trevally in the middle river. Quality bream upstream from the Cod Hole and the lower river. Flathead from the Creek mouths, the Bli Bli Islands and Chambers Island. Bream, Tarwhine and flathead from the river mouth.

Mooloolaba: Tailor of the rock walls. A few gar fish around the moorings on the incoming tide. Bream and several dusky flathead and golden trevally from the boat moorings and canals. Cod and flathead from the twin bridges. Mud crabs in the canal and Mountain Creek.

Caloundra: Luderick off the Boardwalk. Bream from Military Jetty, the boardwalk and golden beach stretch. Bream and trevally in Pelican Waters. School jew in the deeper holes of the northern passage.

Young Flynn O'Toole was fishing in the Cod Hole fishing comp with his family around the Bli Bli Islands when he hooked this 59cm dusky flathead.
