Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2019-07-20

Offshore: Still great offshore conditions, today with winds east to southeasterly about 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the morning then becoming east to northeasterly about 10 knots in the evening. Lighter south to southwesterly winds inshore in the early morning with seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow conditions pretty good as well with winds east to northeasterly about 10 knots tending north to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon. Lighter westerly winds inshore in the early morning with seas below 1 metre. Noosa Blue Waters Charters fished Double Island Point for trevally, yellowtail kingfish, scarlet sea perch, snapper, cod, sweetlip tusk fish, red emperor and jewfish. Jesse Baker caught a thumper gold spot cod at North Reef in the morning and a quality cobia at Halls Reef in the afternoon on the way in. Both fish were taken on live/fresh yakkas and were successfully released. Wild Thing 2 skipper Nat Turner did a seven hour trips to North Reef and The Hill where they caught pearl perch, snapper, scarlet sea perch, moses perch and quality cobia. Sunshine Reef has had snapper and a few good sweetlip. Snapper and tusk fish from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Good quality snapper, pearl perch and tusk fish from the Banks. Grass sweetlip, snapper and tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: A 75cm dusky flathead released and also catches of Luderick at the rocks inside the river mouth. Plenty of bream and flathead and quality trevally taken throughout the lowe river and up around Tewantin. Big golden trevally from Munna Point. Trevally and bream in Woods Bays. Trevally and mangrove jack from Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Bream and whiting to 35cm in the mouth of Eudlo Creek as well as tailor and trevally to 65cm from Cod Hole. Quality bream upstream from the Cod Hole and the lower river. Flathead to 60cm from the Creek mouths, the Bli Bli Islands and Chambers Island. Bream, Tarwhine, big bream and flathead from the lower river.

Mooloolaba: Tailor, bream and worth a try for luderick as well of the rock walls. A few gar fish around the moorings on the incoming tide. Bream and several dusky flathead and golden trevally from the boat moorings and canals. Cod and flathead from the twin bridges. Mud crabs in the canal and Mountain Creek.

Caloundra: Luderick and bream off the Boardwalk. Cod and flathead in Coochin Creek. Bream in the deeper holes and channels of the passage. Bream and trevally in Pelican Waters. School jew, small snapper and sweetlip off the rocky headlands.

Fred Dengate, fished the Cod Hole yesterday with Bruce Henrick for 3 hard fighting big GT's and a couple of tailor.
