Local Fishing Report: Saturday 17/11/2012

Noosa: Elbow slapper whiting in the lower river and Weyba Creek. Flathead and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack, jew and threadfin salmon between the lakes. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound.

Maroochydore: Tailor to 2kg from Twin Waters stretch and Godfrey’s Road in the evenings. Jew to 95cm and jacks in the middle reaches. Good trevally at the Twin waters Weir. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Flathead under Bli Bli bridge. Mud crabs up above Bli Bli and around Coolum Creek.

Kawana: Jew and tailor to 1.8kg from Point Cartwright rocks. Tailor and bream from the Kawana rock wall. Jacks and cod from Parrearra channel and McKenzies bridge. Trevally in the lower river around the herring schools. Mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Caloundra: Flathead in the bar and opposite the coast guard jetty. Mangrove jack in Coochin Creek and the canals. Whiting off the sand banks in the top end of the passage, particularly opposite the power boat club and Bells Creek mouth. Big whiting and jacks in lake Currimundi.

Local Fishing Report: Friday 16/11/2012

Noosa: Jew to 9kg and tailor to 4kg at Double Island Point overnight. There has been some big elbow slapper whiting around 500g feeding in the lower river this week. Flathead, bream and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon to 7.2kg north of the ferry and around Lake Cootharaba. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound.

Maroochydore: Massive schools of herring are moving through the river on the daily tides. Jew in the deeper holes off the northern beaches over night. Good trevally at the Twin waters Weir. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Flathead under Bli Bli bridge. Whiting in the Maroochy Waters Canal. Mud crabs up above Bli Bli and around Coolum Creek.

Kawana: Tailor and bream from the rock wall. Good flathead and estuary cod on trolled hard bodied lures along Kawana Way reach. Good whiting and a few crabs in Mountain Creek and around McKenzie’s Bridge.

Caloundra: Flathead and bream in the Blue Hole. There’s been a few good trevally in the 1.5 kg range in Pelican Waters Canals. Mangrove jack in Coochin Creek. Whiting off the sand banks in the top end of the passage, particularly opposite the power boat club. Big whiting and jacks in lake Currimundi.

Noosa: Northerly breezes will make offshore and beach fishing difficult for the next day or so, check conditions early! Jew to 9kg and tailor to 4kg at Double Island Point overnight. There has been some big elbow slapper whiting around 500gms feeding in the lower river this week. Flathead, bream and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon to 7.2kg north of the ferry and around Lake Cootharaba. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound.

Maroochydore: After yesterdays New moon the fish will be feeding right through the weekend so, it will be worth trying for jew at the Cod Hole, the river mouth and along North Shore particularly overnight. Good trevally at the Twin waters Weir, yesterday. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Flathead above Bli Bli bridge. Whiting in the Maroochy Waters Canal. Been a few mud crabs up above Bli Bli and around Coolum Creek.

Kawana: Have to get out early ahead of the strong northerlies that are forecast for the next few days. Good flathead and estuary cod on trolled hard bodied lures along Kawana Way reach. Good whiting and a few crabs in Mountain Creek and around McKenzie’s Bridge.

Caloundra: Flathead and bream in the Blue Hole. There’s been a few good trevally in the 1.5 kg range in Pelican Waters Canals. Mangrove jack in Coochin Creek. Max Abolins, caught this flattie at dusk on Monday using a herring live bait in Maroochy Waters canal. He didn’t measure it, just took a picture and released it, swam off in good condition

Noosa: Get out early ahead of the afternoon sea breeze on local reefs for a few reefies and pelagic, like cobia to 7kg. Jew to 9kg and tailor to 4kg at Double Island Point overnight. Flathead, bream and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon to 5kg around Lake Cootharaba. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound.

Maroochydore: With today’s New moon the fish will be feeding and who knows what the eclipse might do to the feeding activity, so, it will be worth trying for jew at the Cod Hole, the river mouth and along North Shore particularly overnight. Good trevally at the Twin waters Weir, yesterday. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Flathead above Bli Bli bridge. Whiting in the Maroochy Waters Canal. Been a few mud crabs up above Bli Bli and around Coolum Creek.
