2012 Fishing Reports

Local Fishing Report: Sunday 29/04/2012

Noosa: Big tailor along Teewah and Double Island Point in the evenings. Jacks, flathead and whiting to 43cm from Woods bay. Grunter bream and mud crabs from the Lakes.

Maroochydore: Good sized tailor and jew along the beach at Mudjimba. Bream to 33cm in the Cod Hole and from the Pin Cushion. There’s still a few good Flathead to 60cm from Chambers Island and Picnic Point. A few trevally form Twin Waters and Godfrey’ Road.

Kawana: Whiting and dart from Kawana beach. La Balsa Park has been producing good numbers of bream during the run out tide at night. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: Small flathead and a few good bream to 35cm from the bar. Whiting to 34cm are well scattered at the Caloundra end of the passage. Queenfish and trevally in Pelican Waters on surface lures and live baits . Tailor and jew in the deeper holes.

Crackers was happy with this 1.3kg or 61cm flathead which he caught from Cotton Tree.

Noosa: Big tailor along Teewah and Double Island Point in the evenings. Whiting, bream and Golden Trevally from the Frying pan. Jacks, flathead and whiting to 43cm from Woods bay.

Maroochydore: Good sized tailor and jew along the beach at Mudjimba. Bream to 33cm in the Cod Hole and from the Pin Cushion. Flathead from Chambers Island and the mouth. A few trevally form Twin Waters and Godfrey' Road.

Kawana: Whiting and dart from Kawana beach. Bream and flathead around the pontoons in the canals opposite of Mooloolaba boat ramp. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: Small flathead and a few good bream to 35cm from the bar. Whiting to 34cm are well scattered at the Caloundra end of the passage. Queenfish and trevally in Pelican Waters. Tailor and jew in the deeper holes.

Attachment: Michael Wilkinson from the Maroochy RSL fishing club went out to the Barwon Banks before the wind came up and caught several good eating sized snapper around the 4kg mark.

Noosa: Big Spanish mackerel from Sunshine Reef. Big tailor along Teewah and Double Island Point in the evenings. Whiting, bream and Golden Trevally from the Frying pan. Jacks, flathead and whiting to 43cm from Woods bay.

Maroochydore: Good sized tailor and jew along the beach at Mudjimba. Bream to 33cm in the Cod Hole and from the Pin Cushion. Flathead from Chambers Island and the mouth. A few trevally form Twin Waters and Godfrey' Road.

Kawana: Good numbers of snapper around 4kg, sweetlip and cobia from the Barwon Banks. Whiting and dart from Kawana beach. Bream and flathead around the pontoons in the canals opposite of Mooloolaba boat ramp. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: Small flathead and a few good bream to 35cm from the bar. Whiting to 34cm are well scattered at the Caloundra end of the passage. Queenfish and trevally in Pelican Waters. Tailor and jew in the deeper holes. Snapper, sweetlip and big Spanish mackerel from the 5 mile.

Attachment: Cameron took advantage of the fine weather on Anzac day to wet a line with his family from the bank near the cod hole and caught several pre winter run bream up to 34cm.

Local Fishing Report: Thursday 26/04/2012

Noosa: With the swell and wind dropping out, Sunshine has fished well for Maori cod, cobia and coral trout. Whiting, bream and Golden Trevally from the Frying pan. Jacks, flathead and whiting to 43cm from Woods bay.

Maroochydore: A few bigger Bream are moving into the river system with a few over 30cm caught in the Cod Hole yesterday. Trevally and Morwong to 2kg from the cod hole. Large numbers whiting and the odd flathead from Chambers Island. Mangrove jack in Petrie and Coolum creeks.

Kawana: Good numbers of snapper around 4kg, sweetlip and cobia from the Barwon Banks. Mangrove jack to 6.5kg caught from the gneerings. Whiting and dart from Kawana beach. Bream and flathead around the pontoons in the canals opposite of Mooloolaba boat ramp. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: Spotty mackerel out from Currimundi Reef. Snapper, gold spot wrasse and sweetlip to 2kg from Caloundra Wide. Whiting out from the Power boat club and bream from the Board walk. Try the canals for bream and trevally during the morning incoming tide.

Local Fishing Report: Wedneday 25/04/2012

Noosa: With the swell and wind dropping out, Sunshine has fished well for Moari cod, cobia and coral trout. Whiting and bream from the Frying pan on live nippers. Jacks, trevally and a few big flathead from Woods bay on live bait. Whiting and bream around Tewantin boat harbour.

Maroochydore: A few bigger Bream are moving into the river system with a few over 30cm caught in the Cod Hole yesterday. Trevally and tailor on the making tide in the morning from Goat Island and the cod hole. Mowong to 2kg from the cod hole. Whiting and flathead from Chambers Island. Mangrove jack in Petrie and Coolum creeks.

Kawana: Good numbers of snapper, sweetlip and cobia from the Barwon Banks. Mangrove jack to 6.5kg caught from the gneerings. Jew and flathead from the twin bridges. Bream and flathead on soft plastics around the pontoons in the canals opposite of Mooloolaba boat ramp. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: Spotty mackerel out from Currimundi Reef. Whiting and bream out from the Power boat club on live nippers and worms. Plenty of flathead have been moving around the lower and middle reaches. Try the canals for bream and trevally during the morning incoming tide.
