Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2013-11-28

Offshore

North to northwesterly 15 to 25 knots becoming northerly 25 to 30 knots in the late afternoon then decreasing to 20 to 25 knots in the late evening. Seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the morning. With the strong wind warning it's best to stay in sheltered waters, there have been school and spotty mackerel on local reefs particularly from Currimundi Reef, Caloundra 5 and NW fairway beacon.

Estuary's:

Noosa: Flathead, trevally and chopper tailor on top of the tide between the River mouth and Woods Bay and whiting in Lake Cooroibah. Whiting, flathead and a few mulloway from the lower river. Flathead throughout the Noosa River and in Weyba Creek.

Maroochydore: Tailor to 42cm yesterday at Yinni Street and a few mulloway moving in on the big high tide, ahead on the New moon next Tuesday. A few nice sand crabs in the lower river. Herring baitfish in the lower river and around Chambers Island. School duskies from the creek mouths. Whiting to 30cm off Chambers Island. Jack throughout the middle and upper river. Tarwhine and bream from Bli Bli.

Kawana: Bream and trevally form the moorings. bream and trevally on top of the tide in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah. Dart, whiting and a few bream along the beaches also a few flathead and whiting at Wurtulla. Trevally, jacks and cod around McKenzies Bridge area. A few sand crabs in the lower river. Jack and whiting in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches.

Caloundra: Target mangrove jack, flathead and trevally in Coochin Creek. Flathead around Military Jetty. Sand crabs in the channels. Flathead on the drop offs in the northern end of the passage. Mangrove jack in the canals. Whiting around the Power Boat Club.

Offshore

Winds are going to 10 knots variable in the morning turning 10-15 knots northeasterly in the afternoon with a decreasing 1.5m seas. School and spotty mackerel from Currimundi Reef, Caloundra 5 and NW fairway beacon.

Corey Sellies Bream Chambers

Young, Corey Sellies was fishing around Chambers Island and caught and released several bream like this keeper!

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2013-11-26

Offshore

South to southeasterly 15 to 25 knots tending east to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon and evening. Seas 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres during the morning, then decreasing below 1 metre during the afternoon. Might be better to stay in sheltered waters until the wind and sea eases back, check tomorrows mornings conditions early and target a few mackerel.

Spotty Mackerel Southern Reefs Top Catch

The crews on Top Catch Charters have been taking a few good spotty mackerel on the southern reefs off Caloundra.

Offshore

West to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots shifting southeast to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the morning, with seas 1m. School and spotty mackerel, big gold spot cod to 7kg and sweetlip from Caloundra 9 mile. Spotty mackerel in the bay at Mooloolaba, longtail tuna off the NE tip of Bribie Island, sweetlip near Bray Rock, Spotty and school mackerel from currimundi and the NW fairway beacon. Jew out wide of North Reef. Snapper, sweetlip, red throat, cobia and trout from Sunshine and spotty mackerel in Laguna bay. Snapper, cod and pearl perch from Wide Caloundra.

Ethan Sand Crabs Chambers

Ethan Thompson, has got the crab pots in around Chambers Island, for a few nice fat sand crabs and he released several big jenny mud crabs.
