Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2013-11-23

Offshore

Northerly 10 to 15 knots turning north to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots during the day, with seas below 1m. School and spotty mackerel, big gold spot cod to 7kg and sweetlip from Caloundra 9 mile. Spotty and school mackerel from currimundi and the NW fairway beacon. Jew out wide of North Reef. Snapper, sweetlip, red throat, cobia and trout from Sunshine and spotty mackerel in Laguna bay. Snapper, cod and pearl perch from Wide Caloundra.

Estuary's:

Noosa: Trevally have been taken at the car park rocks at the river mouth. Whiting, flathead and school jew from the lower river. Flathead throughout the Noosa River and in Weyba Creek. Try for jacks and the odd threadfin between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Dart, bream, and a few good sized dusky flathead in the surf between Mudjimba and Mount Coolum. Good flathead in the lower river. Whiting to 30cm off Chambers Island. Mangrove jack at dawn and dusk around the rock bars, snags and bridge pylons throughout the upper river. School sized duskies in the middle river.

Kawana: Bream off the beach at kawana and flathead and whiting at Wurtulla. Trevally, jacks and cod around McKenzies Bridge area. A few sand crabs in the lower river. Jack in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches. Whiting in Mountain Creek reach. Bream and trevally form the moorings.

Caloundra: Jacks, flathead and trevally in Coochin Creek. Whiting and flathead around Military Jetty. Sand crabs in the channels. Flathead on the drop offs in the northern end of the passage. Mangrove jack in the canals.

Tate Keys 5kg Spotty Mackerel Top Catch

Tate Keys was fishing aboard Top Catch Charters when he caught this 5kg spotty mackerel in close off Caloundra this week.

Mackerel, pearl perch and sweetlip from Caloundra 9 mile. Spotty and spanish mackerel from Coolum, currimundi and the 5 and 9 mile. Jew out wide of North Reef. Snapper, sweetlip, red throat, cobia and trout from Sunshine and spotty mackerel in Laguna bay.

Maroochydore: A few good flathead to 62cm in the lower river. Whiting in the canals and off Chambers Island. Mangrove jack at dawn and dusk in the in both canal systems and around the rock bars and bridges throughout the river. Flathead and school jew along the Bli Bli reach.

Maroochydore: Trevally and bream in the cod hole. Whiting in the canals and off Chambers Island. Mangrove jack at dawn and dusk in the in both canal systems and around the rock bars and bridges throughout the river. Flathead and school jew along the Bli Bli reach.

North Maroochy Bass 36cm released

Had a Good Session with 2 good bass and 3 bream on the same lure in the Upper Maroochy River, I pulled this 36 cm Bass and 3 legal bream from the same snag, but my camera ran out of batteries after this fish, All fish were released. Shanan Nicholls.
