Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2013-04-24

Noosa: Good coral trout on sunshine reef and Spanish mackerel on close inshore reefs. An 80cm mulloway or jew taken on pilchard on the rocks north off Sunshine Beach and school jew along the Tewantin reach, remember jew have a legal size limit of 75cm. Flathead near the sand pumping station. Whiting in the lower river on bait and poppers. Bream from the Rock wall at the mouth and around Munna Bridge.

Maroochydore: Jew in the cod hole on the top of tide. A few big female flathead over the meter mark released from the river mouth. Flathead to 70cm from Goat Island. Whiting in the lower river. Grunter to 37cm from the mouth of Petrie Creek. Mud crabs in the middle river.

Kawana: Long tail tuna and spotty mackerel north of Old Women Island. Coral trout and grass sweetlip on the gneerings. Bream and trevally along the La Balsa Park reach of the Mooloolah River and mud crabs moving throughout. Bream from the moorings.

Caloundra: Snapper the sweetlip around Brays Rock. Flathead inside Caloundra Bar. Bream in the Blue Hole. Jew on the high tide off the tip of Bribie Island and in the channel out from Military Jetty. Mud crabs and grunter bream along the Coochin Stretch.

Jack Cranney was fishing at Twin Waters this week when he caught a pan sized yellow fin bream.

Maroochydore: Jew and mangrove jack in the middle reaches over the weekend and through this week with the full moon Friday. Flathead to 64cm at Cottontree and near Twin Waters. Whiting throughout the lower river. Bream around the mouth. Mud crabs in the middle and upper river, but mainly under size bucks and big females.

Kawana: The winds could be a bit choppy early today with a S to SE at 15 to 20, becoming E to SE 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon and evening. Coral trout and grass sweetlip on the gneerings. Bream and trevally along the La Balsa Park reach of the Mooloolah River and mud crabs moving throughout. Worth a try for whiting, jew and a few bream in gutters along the beach's. Bream from the moorings.

Caloundra: With the Full Moon this Friday the fish will be feeding all week and into the weekend! Flathead inside Caloundra Bar. Bream in the Blue Hole. Jew on the high tide off the tip of Bribie Island and in the channel out from Military Jetty. Mud crabs and grunter bream along the Coochin Stretch.

Whiting throughout the lower river, best catches at dawn and dusk and on the sand banks, coming up to the top of the tide. Bream and Tarwhine around the mouth. Mud crabs in the middle and upper river.
