Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2019-07-24

Offshore: More great conditions with winds northwesterly 10 to 15 knots turning west to southwesterly during the morning then becoming variable about 10 knots during the afternoon. Winds then tending westerly 10 to 15 knots in the late evening with seas below 1 metre. tomorrow could be a bit choppy at times but generally a good day for fishing with winds southwesterly 10 to 15 knots turning southeasterly during the morning. Winds reaching up to 20 knots at times during the morning and seas around 1 metre. Cougar One skipper Theo Hewish did a trip to Double Island Point , where they caught good. North Reef has had pearl perch, maori cod, gold spot cod and quality cobia. Sunshine Reef has had snapper and a few good sweetlip. Grass sweetlip, cod and snapper from the Gneerings. Good quality snapper, pearl perch and tusk fish from the Banks.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa:  Luderick at the rocks inside the river mouth. Bream and flathead and plenty of diamond trevally taken throughout the lower river and up around Tewantin. Golden and Diamond Trvally in Woods Bays. Trevally and still a few mangrove jack from Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Bream and whiting in the mouth of Eudlo Creek as well as tailor and trevally to 65cm from Cod Hole. Quality bream upstream from the Cod Hole and the lower river. Flathead to 78cm released from the Creek mouths and lowe river. Bream, Tarwhine, big bream and flathead from the lower river.

Mooloolaba: Tailor, bream and worth a try for luderick as well of the rock walls. A few gar fish around the moorings on the incoming tide. Bream and several dusky flathead and golden trevally from the boat moorings and canals. Cod and flathead from the twin bridges.

Caloundra: Luderick and bream off the Boardwalk. Cod and flathead in Coochin Creek. Bream in the deeper holes and channels of the passage. School jew in the deeper holes of the passage. Bream and trevally in Pelican Waters. Small snapper and sweetlip off the rocky headlands.

Andy Staszewski from the Maroochy Jet Ski hire caught and released this 56cm dusky flathead along Bradman Avenue.

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2019-07-23

Offshore: Winds will be Northerly below 10 knots becoming west to northwesterly early in the morning then tending northerly 10 to 15 knots in the late afternoon, with seas below 1m and East to southeasterly swell below 1 metre. Cougar One skipper Theo Hewish did a trip to Double Island Point , where they caught good. North Reef has had pearl perch, maori cod, gold spot cod and quality cobia. Sunshine Reef has had snapper and a few good sweetlip. Grass sweetlip, cod and snapper from the Gneerings. Good quality snapper, pearl perch and tusk fish from the Banks.

There are a few chopper tailor getting around in the middle Maroochy River. This fish was caught and released by Matt Planck on a Trollcraft Pelagic lure.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 2019-07-22

Offshore: Beautifull offshore conditions, today with winds north to northeasterly about 10 knots becoming variable below 10 knots in the middle of the day then becoming north to northeasterly in the late afternoon. Light easterly seabreezes inshore in the afternoon with seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow conditions will be even better with winds variable below 10 knots, becoming north to northeasterly about 10 knots in the late afternoon and then tending northwesterly in the late evening with seas below 1 metre. Cougar One skipper Theo Hewish did a nine hour trip to Double Island Point on Friday in great conditions, where they caught good snapper, pearl perch, scarlet sea perch, tusk fish and cobia. Wild Thing 2 skipper Nat Turner did a seven hour trips to North Reef and The Hill where they caught pearl perch, snapper, scarlet sea perch, moses perch and quality cobia. Sunshine Reef has had snapper and a few good sweetlip. Snapper and tusk fish from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Good quality snapper, pearl perch and tusk fish from the Banks. Grass sweetlip, snapper and tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile.

Eric Frei, is pretty happy with his solid 85cm knobby snapper taken off Moolooaba this week.

Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2019-07-20

Offshore: Still great offshore conditions, today with winds east to southeasterly about 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the morning then becoming east to northeasterly about 10 knots in the evening. Lighter south to southwesterly winds inshore in the early morning with seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow conditions pretty good as well with winds east to northeasterly about 10 knots tending north to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon. Lighter westerly winds inshore in the early morning with seas below 1 metre. Noosa Blue Waters Charters fished Double Island Point for trevally, yellowtail kingfish, scarlet sea perch, snapper, cod, sweetlip tusk fish, red emperor and jewfish. Jesse Baker caught a thumper gold spot cod at North Reef in the morning and a quality cobia at Halls Reef in the afternoon on the way in. Both fish were taken on live/fresh yakkas and were successfully released. Wild Thing 2 skipper Nat Turner did a seven hour trips to North Reef and The Hill where they caught pearl perch, snapper, scarlet sea perch, moses perch and quality cobia. Sunshine Reef has had snapper and a few good sweetlip. Snapper and tusk fish from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Good quality snapper, pearl perch and tusk fish from the Banks. Grass sweetlip, snapper and tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile.

Fred Dengate, fished the Cod Hole yesterday with Bruce Henrick for 3 hard fighting big GT's and a couple of tailor.

Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2019-07-18

Offshore: Still great offshore conditions, today with winds West to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots turning south to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day. Inshore winds tending south to southwesterly below 10 knots in the late evening with seas 1 to 1.5 metres. Tomorrow conditions excellent with winds variable about 10 knots. Light northeasterly seabreezes inshore in the afternoon with seas below 1 metre. Noosa Blue Waters Charters fished Double Island Point for trevally, yellowtail kingfish, scarlet sea perch, snapper, cod, sweetlip tusk fish, red emperor and jewfish. Jesse Baker caught a thumper gold spot cod at North Reef in the morning and a quality cobia at Halls Reef in the afternoon on the way in. Both fish were taken on live/fresh yakkas and were successfully released. Theres also been a few solid snapper from North Reef over the past few weeks. Sunshine Reef has had snapper and a few good sweetlip. Snapper and tusk fish from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Snapper, pearl perch and tusk fish from the Banks. Grass sweetlip, snapper and tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile.
