Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2019-04-20

Offshore 

Choppy conditions continue with winds east to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore with seas 1.5 to 2 metres. Tomorrow will be even rougher with winds east to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots and seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres. So be prepared to fish in shelters waters. Spanish mackerel, school mackerel, long tail tuna, yellow fin tuna, grass sweetlp, tusk fish and snapper from Sunshine Reef. Spanish mackerel, yellow fin, mac and long tail tuna off Coolum Reef and out from Mooloolaba. Mac and long tail tuna from the blinker. Spanish mackerel, Long tail tuna, sweetlip, tusk fish and snapper from Caloundra 12 mile. Long tail tuna from the NW fairway beacon. Cobia, spanish mackerel, trout, red throat and pearl perch from the Banks. Pearl perch and mulloway from the Hards.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Trevelly in Woods Bay as well as whiting, flathead and bream inside the river mouth and lower river. Mangrove jack and mud crabs in Weyba Creek. Whiting at the entrance of the lakes. The mud crabs on the move throughout the river. Bream and flathead along the Gympie Terrace stretch.

Maroochydore: A few nice dart along Mudjimba/Marcoola beaches. Mangrove jack, in Petrie Creek, flathead, bream and trevelly from the the mouth of Eudlo Creek and the Cod Hole. Few good whiting in the lower river on the incoming tide. Good mud crabs still throughout the river.

Mooloolaba: Bream, cod and trevally from around the boat moorings. Mangroveack, cod and several good flathead caught throughout the river. Muddies throughout the Mooloolah River, particularly in the Kawana and Mooloolah canals.

Caloundra: Whiting, bream, trevally and flathead along Golden Beach. Mangrove jack, flathead, grunter and mud crabs in the creeks. Queenfish and trevally in Pelican Waters. Bream and grass sweetlip from Shelly Beach.

OliverHamish 

Early start yesterday morning for keen angles Oliver Compton and Hamish Cavanagh landing plenty of dart on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2019-04-18

The full moon phase on Good Friday should have the mud crabs on the move and the fish biting on the big morning high tide. Winds will be south to southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon, with seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon. Tomorrow should be okay early and become choppy by the afternoon, with winds South to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots reaching up to 20 knots in the afternoon and seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the evening. Spanish mackerel from Halls Reef and jew Shoal. Sunshine Reef, Spanish Mackerel, blue fin tuna, venus tusk fish, grass sweetlip and longtail tuna. Spanish mackerel, yellow fin, mac and long tail tuna off Coolum Reef and out from Mooloolaba. Mac and long tail tuna from the blinker. Offshore

Workable conditions hopefully today with winds will be southeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots at times. Winds southerly about 10 knots inshore during the early morning seas 1 to 1.5 metres and swell easterly around 1 metre. Tomorrow should be okay with winds southeasterly 10 to 15 knots. Winds southerly inshore during the morning and seas around 1 metre. Spanish mackerel from Halls Reef and jew Shoal. Wild Thing 2 skipper Nat Turner, ran a charter to Sunshine Reef on Sunday afternoon. Conditions were a tad lumpy but certainly fishable where we caught venus tusk fish, grass sweetlip and longtail tuna. Spanish mackerel, yellow fin, mac and long tail tuna off Coolum Reef and out from Mooloolaba. Mac and long tail tuna from the blinker. Spanish mackerel, Long tail tuna, sweetlip, tusk fish and snapper from Caloundra 12 mile. Long tail tuna from the NW fairway beacon. Offshore

Winds will be South to Southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots. Winds southerly inshore during the early morning, with 1 -1.5m seas and 1m of Easterly swell. Spanish mackerel from Halls Reef and jew Shoal. Sunshine Reef, has had pearl perch, tusk fish, grass emperor, Moses perch, painted sweetlip, gold spot cod, snapper, coral trout, as well as schools of long tail tuna and Spanish mackerel. Spanish mackerel, yellow fin, mac and long tail tuna off Coolum Reef and out from Mooloolaba. Mac and long tail tuna from the blinker. Spanish mackerel, Long tail tuna, sweetlip, tusk fish and snapper from Caloundra 12 mile. Long tail tuna from the NW fairway beacon. Check out Shane's solid 25kg Maroochy River Barramundi, caught over the weekend in the Cod Hole and measured in at 1.3m even after having the end of it's tail bitten off by a shark. Well done mate.
