Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2019-06-19

Offshore 

Wind strength increasing in the afternoon and becoming choppy to rough with winds south to southwesterly about 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots before dawn, then tending south to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots in the afternoon, with seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning, then increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres by early evening. Tomorrows conditions will be choppy to rough except close in shore early with winds south to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots turning southeasterly 15 to 20 knots during the morning. Lighter south to southwesterly winds inshore in the early morning and seas 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini, did a trip to North Reef on Sunday where they caught snapper, Moses perch, pearl perch, venus tusk fish and painted sweetlip. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Long tail tuna, spanish and spotty mackerel from Halls Reef. Big snapper, venus tusk fish, gold spot wrasse, hussar and a beautiful parrot form the Hards. Snapper from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Spanish mackerel and tuskfish around the Blinker. Snapper and sweetlip from Brays Rock. Snapper and mackerel from Caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Noosa North Shore has good dart, tailor, bream and whiting. Kev Stevenson was fishing for bream at Peregian Beach yesterday morning where he took a 72cm greenback tailor. A few big dusky flathead at the Tewantin ski run area caught and released recently. Flathead, the odd tailor, golden trevally, whiting bream around the river mouth.

Maroochydore: Big eyed and Giant trevally in the middle river. Bream and moses perch in the Cod Hole. Flathead from Twin Waters. Whiting to 37cm on the banks around Chambers Island and around Goat and Channel Islands. Trevally form Eudlo Creek. Big flathead from Bli Bli stretch.

Mooloolaba: Bream and Tarwhine in the wholes along the beach between Kawana and Wurtulla. Gar at La Balsa sand basin. School jew, flathead and jacks from the Twin bridges. Giant trevally around Minyama Siland and in Kawana canals. Bream, trevally and tailor around the boat moorings.

Caloundra: Bream and the occasional tailor off the rocky headlands. Bream, whiting and flathead along Golden Beach. School jew in the deeper holes towards Coochin Creek area. Trevally, cod, moses perch and bream in Pelican Waters. A few sand crabs throughout the passage.

Jeff Hobart was trolling his custom made wooden Maroochy Minnow lure, near the entrance to Eudlo Creek when this 57cm GT engulfed it and took off like a rocket. Well done for releasing it Jeff to swim another day and bring joy to another angler in the future.

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2019-06-18

Offshore 

Winds will be South to southwesterly at 10 to 15 knots. Inshore winds tending southeasterly about 10 knots with afternoon sea breezes, then tending west to southwesterly during the evening, with seas around the 1m mark and 1 to 1.5m of southerly swell. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Long tail tuna, spanish and spotty mackerel from Halls Reef. Big snapper form the banks and hards. Snapper from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Spanish mackerel and tuskfish around the Blinker. Snapper and sweetlip from Brays Rock. Local Fishing Report: Monday 2019-06-17

Offshore 

Could be a bit choppy out wide today with winds today west to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots turning southwesterly early in the morning and reaching up to 25 knots at times during the late morning and early afternoon. Winds easing to 10 to 15 knots in the late afternoon, reaching up to 20 knots at times with seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning, then decreasing to 1 metre during the afternoon. Tomorrow's condition will be pretty good so be ready to go, with winds south to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots. Inshore winds becoming variable below 10 knots during the afternoon, then tending westerly during the evening.and seas below 1 metre.. The Winter Snapper season is off to a good start with good size catches coming close in on local reefs. Brisbane yak angler Scott Davis, took home an 8.5kg Spanish mackerel from around Sunshine Reef. Sunshine Reef has also had coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Wild Thing 2 skipper Nat Turner fished North Reef on Friday where they caught a good mixed bag of snapper, pearl perch, Moses perch, grass sweetlip and trout cod. Jason Mills from Peregian Beach decided to give Hall's Reef a go and landed a 26kg longtail tuna, as well as a couple of spotty mackerel to fill the keeper bag. Mac tuna and Spanish mackerel around the Blinker. A few good cobia, snapper, sweetlip, school and spotty mackerel from Currimundi Reef and the Caloundra 5, 9 and 12mile reefs.

Maroochydore: Herring bait fish are feeding on the incoming tide.Several good catches of tailor, trevally to 55cm and a 70cm Queenfish around and worth chasing jew at night at the Cod Hole and along the beaches and headlands. Bream in the Maroochy south channel around all the structures.

Mooloolaba: The Full Moon today will be great for fishing.Worth trying for jew, bream and small snapper from Point Cartwright. Flathead in the creeks and canals. Plenty of bream, particularly at night and trevally from around the boat moorings and throughout the lower river.

Caloundra; Bream and flathead along Golden Beach. Bream, school jew and tailor from Shelly Beach. A few flathead, trevally and bream through the Passage. Trevally and bream in Pelican Waters. A few sand crabs throughout the passage.

Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2019-06-15

Offshore 

It's looking like great offshore fishing conditions ahead and right through into next week. Winds today west to northwesterly about 10 knots becoming north to northeasterly during the afternoon.with seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow's condition will be perfect as well, with winds variable about 10 knots during the morning, becoming southeasterly during the afternoon, and northeasterly in the evening and seas below 0.5 metres. The Winter Snapper season is off to a good start with good size catches coming close in on local reefs. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini did a nine hour trip to Double Island Point on Tuesday in nothing less than glorious conditions where they caught gold band snapper, Moses perch, venus tusk fish, squire, grass emperor and pearl perch. North Reef has also had good snapper, sweetlip, Moses perch, cobia, tusk fish and gold band snapper. Jason Mills from Peregian Beach decided to give Hall's Reef a go and landed a 26kg longtail tuna, as well as a couple of spotty mackerel to fill the keeper bag. Sunshine Reef has had coral trout, snapper, spanish mackerel and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Mac tuna and Spanish mackerel around the Blinker. Noosa: Yesterday, Teewah on the Noosa North Shore has good dart, tailor to 55cm and a few bream and whiting. A few big dusky flathead at the Tewantin ski run area caught and released recently. Mangrove jack and flathead from the Tewantin Stretch. Flathead, the odd tailor, golden trevally, whiting bream around the river mouth. Queenies to 65cm and trevally in the Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: Good fishing with the lead up to the Full Moon on Monday. Herring bait fish are feeding on the incoming tide.Several good catches of tailor, trevally to 55cm and a 70cm Queenfish around the Cod Hole in past 2 days and worth chasing jew at night at the Cod Hole and along the beaches and headlands. Good bream in the Maroochy south channel around all the structures and a 40cm bream was caught near Fisherman's Road bridge.
