Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2019-06-20

Offshore 

Choppy conditions with winds south to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Inshore winds tending more south to southwesterly during the morning, with seas 1 to 1.5 metres. Tomorrows conditions will be choppy as well with winds southeasterly 10 to 15 knots turning south to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots during the morning. Winds may vary depending on the movement and development of a coastal trough and seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 2 metres offshore during the morning. It's shaping up to be a great winter snapper season, so be ready to go! North Reefs had a few good catches of Moses perch, pearl perch, venus tusk fish and painted sweetlip. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Long tail tuna, spanish and spotty mackerel from Halls Reef. Big snapper, venus tusk fish, gold spot wrasse, hussar and a beautiful parrot form the Hards. Snapper from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Spanish mackerel and tuskfish around the Blinker. Snapper and sweetlip from Brays Rock. Snapper and mackerel from Caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: North Shore has dart, tailor, bream and whiting. A 72cm greenback tailor was taken off Peregian Beach this week. A few big dusky flathead at the Tewantin ski run area caught and released recently. Flathead, the odd tailor, golden trevally, whiting bream around the river mouth.

Maroochydore: Big eyed and Giant trevally in the middle river. Bream and moses perch in the Cod Hole. Flathead from Twin Waters. Whiting to 37cm on the banks around Chambers Island and around Goat and Channel Islands. Trevally form Eudlo Creek.

Mooloolaba: Bream and Tarwhine along the beach between Kawana and Wurtulla. Gar at La Balsa sand basin. School jew, flathead and jacks from the Twin bridges. Giant trevally around Minyama Siland and in Kawana canals. Bream, trevally and tailor around the boat moorings.

Caloundra: Bream and the occasional tailor off the rocky headlands. Bream, whiting and flathead along Golden Beach. School jew in the deeper holes towards Coochin Creek area. Trevally, cod, moses perch and bream in Pelican Waters. A few sand crabs throughout the passage.

Offshore 

'Hip Hip Hooray' we have the June Winter Solstice in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on Saturday, 22 June 2019 at 1:54 am AEST, so enjoy the fact that the daylight time will now start to get longer! Stay in the rivers and sheltered waters, with very choppy to rough conditions today (Saturday) with winds southerly 20 to 25 knots tending southeasterly 15 to 20 knots during the evening. Winds 15 to 20 knots inshore and seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Tomorrow (Sunday) will be a better day particularly in the afternoon or close inshore with winds Southerly 15 to 20 knots turning southeasterly during the day. Inshore winds south to southwesterly in the morning, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon and with seas 1 to 1.5 metres. Local Fishing Report: Monday 2019-06-24

Offshore Winds will be Southerly at 20 to 25 knots, reaching 25 to 30 knots at times until evening. Winds tending south to southeasterly during the evening, with seas at 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the morning and an increasing 1-2m south to southeast swell in offshore waters.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Luderick from the river mouth car park rocks. A few big dusky flathead at the Tewantin ski run area caught and released recently. Trevally and tailor in Woods Bays. Flathead, tailor, trevally and bream around the river mouth.

Maroochydore: Big eyed and Giant trevally to 60cm in the middle river. Gar fish in the canals. Bream, moses perch, tarpon and flathead in the Cod Hole. Flathead off Chambers Island. Bream are throughout the river with bigger fish caught dawn and dusk around the rocky areas.

Mooloolaba: Bream, small snapper and grass sweetlip from Point Cartwright. Gar at La Balsa sand basin. Flathead and cod from the Twin bridges. Bream around the boat moorings.

Caloundra: Bream and the small snapper from the rocks between Dicky beach and Moffat Head. Bream and flathead along Golden Beach. Trevally, tailor and bream in Pelican Waters.

Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2019-06-19

Offshore 

Wind strength increasing in the afternoon and becoming choppy to rough with winds south to southwesterly about 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots before dawn, then tending south to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots in the afternoon, with seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning, then increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres by early evening. Tomorrows conditions will be choppy to rough except close in shore early with winds south to southeasterly 20 to 25 knots turning southeasterly 15 to 20 knots during the morning. Lighter south to southwesterly winds inshore in the early morning and seas 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini, did a trip to North Reef on Sunday where they caught snapper, Moses perch, pearl perch, venus tusk fish and painted sweetlip. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Long tail tuna, spanish and spotty mackerel from Halls Reef. Jeff Hobart was trolling his custom made wooden Maroochy Minnow lure, near the entrance to Eudlo Creek when this 57cm GT engulfed it and took off like a rocket. Well done for releasing it Jeff to swim another day and bring joy to another angler in the future.

Offshore 

Winds will be South to southwesterly at 10 to 15 knots. Inshore winds tending southeasterly about 10 knots with afternoon sea breezes, then tending west to southwesterly during the evening, with seas around the 1m mark and 1 to 1.5m of southerly swell. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Chardon's Reef's had, Maori cod, pearl perch, Moses perch, good snapper, venus tusk fish, hussar and painted sweetlip. Long tail tuna, spanish and spotty mackerel from Halls Reef. Big snapper form the banks and hards. Snapper from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Spanish mackerel and tuskfish around the Blinker. Snapper and sweetlip from Brays Rock. Snapper and mackerel from Caloundra 12 mile.
