Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 14/11/2012

Noosa: Northerly breezes will make offshore and beach fishing difficult for the next day or so, check conditions early! Jew to 9kg and tailor to 4kg at Double Island Point overnight. There has been some big elbow slapper whiting around 500gms feeding in the lower river this week. Flathead, bream and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon to 7.2kg north of the ferry and around Lake Cootharaba. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound.

Maroochydore: After yesterdays New moon the fish will be feeding right through the weekend so, it will be worth trying for jew at the Cod Hole, the river mouth and along North Shore particularly overnight. Good trevally at the Twin waters Weir, yesterday. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Flathead above Bli Bli bridge. Whiting in the Maroochy Waters Canal. Been a few mud crabs up above Bli Bli and around Coolum Creek.

Kawana: Have to get out early ahead of the strong northerlies that are forecast for the next few days. Good flathead and estuary cod on trolled hard bodied lures along Kawana Way reach. Good whiting and a few crabs in Mountain Creek and around McKenzie’s Bridge.

Caloundra: Flathead and bream in the Blue Hole. There’s been a few good trevally in the 1.5 kg range in Pelican Waters Canals. Mangrove jack in Coochin Creek. Whiting off the sand banks in the top end of the passage, particularly opposite the power boat club. Big whiting and jacks in lake Currimundi. Worth putting the pots in the creeks for a few mud crabs.

Max Released FlatheadMaroochy Waters

Max Abolins, caught this flattie at dusk on Monday using a herring live bait in Maroochy Waters canal. He didn’t measure it, just took a picture and released it, swam off in good condition
