Local Fishing Report: Friday 2013-12-27


Variable about 10 knots becoming northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the middle of the day then tending northerly in the late evening, with seas below 1 metre. Spanish spotty and school mackerel off Caloundra, the Blinker, Coolum and Sunshine Reef. Cobia and snapper on North Reef. Snapper moses perch and venus tusk from the Coffees. Pearl perch to 2kg and snapper to 3kg form the 9 mile. Snapper, Wahoo, tuskfish to 2kg and perch perch from the banks.


Noosa: A few tailor over night along Teewah beach and in the lower river. Trevally and a some big flathead from River mouth and frying pan area. Whiting from the Frying pan and Munna Point. Mangrove jack to 58cm in the Noosa Marina, bream to 40cm along Gympie Terrace and whiting in Weyba Creek. Jacks and flathead between the lakes. Tailor, hairtail and trevally in Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: A few chopper tailor and bream in the Cod Hole yesterday. Flathead and jacks from Bli Bli. Big elbow slapper whiting on the banks in the lower river on yabbies and worms. Muddies in the middle river and Maroochy canals. Trevally, whiting and flathead from Cotton Tree.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches. Bream and a few reasonable trevally feeding around the mooring. Jacks in the in Kawana Waters and around the bridges in Currimundi Lake. Whiting in Mountain Creek reach. A few crabs in canal systems and lower river.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along Currimundi beach. Whiting in the top end of the passage like off the banks near Military Jetty, along Golden Beach stretch and in lake Currimundi. Mangrove jack in Bell's Creek, Pelican Waters and up Coochin Creek. Crabs south of Bells creek in the deeper water.

Schmike 72cm Dusky Whiting
