Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2013-12-28


Northerly 15 to 20 knots. Seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning. Pearl perch, snapper, tuskfish, moses perch, cod and mahi mahi on North Reef and snapper, tuskfish, coral trout and spotty mackerel on Sunshine Reef. Sweetlip and spotty mackerel at Old Woman Island and pearl perch, tuskfish, red throat sweetlip, banana fish' mahi mahi and gold spotted wrasse on the Barwon Banks.


Noosa: A few tailor over night along Teewah beach. Bream, flathead, trevally, tailor and jew at Noosa River mouth, bream, flathead, whiting and trevally in Woods Bay, bream, the odd tailor, estuary cod and moses perch in Weyba Creek> Try for flathead and bream along the Noosaville reach. Jacks and flathead between the lakes. Tailor, hairtail and trevally in Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: Flathead, bream and tarwhine in the deep holes along Mudjimba and Marcoola Beaches. Flathead and whiting around Channel Island, bream and tailor at the Cod Hole, flathead, grunter bream and mangrove jack along the Bli Bli reach, mangrove jack to 49cm in Petrie Creek and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches of the Maroochy River.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches. Bream and a few reasonable trevally feeding around the mooring. Jacks in the in Kawana Waters and around the bridges in Currimundi Lake. Whiting in Mountain Creek reach. A few crabs in canal systems and lower river.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along Currimundi beach. Whiting in the top end of the passage opposite the power boat club and off the banks near Military Jetty, along Golden Beach stretch. Mangrove jack in Bell's Creek, Pelican Waters and up Coochin Creek. Crabs south of Bells creek in the deeper water.the canals.
