Local Fishing Report: Friday 2014-09-05


Unfortunately it looks like another weekend either close inshore early or in sheltered waters with winds southerly 15 to 25 knots tending southeasterly 20 to 25 knots in the evening. Seas will be around 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres during the afternoon. Theres been good snapper, sweetlip and parrot from the Blinker. Snapper, Spanish mackerel and tusk fish from Sunshine Beach.


Noosa: Good catches of bream, flathead, whiting, trevally and tailor at the Noosa River mouth. Whiting along the Noosaville stretch. Quality bream from the Marina. Big trevally, flathead and grunter bream in Woods Bays.

Maroochydore: Jew, bream and tailor off the northern beaches. Whiting to 40cm from the black banks. Bream to 30cm, quality dusky flathead around Goat & Channel Islands. Trevally to 55cm from the cod hole on surface lures. Mud crabs still in the middle river and canals.

Kawana: Whiting and bream in the gutters south of Kawana. Big bream around the mooring on the incoming tide over night. Bream and a few tailor around the high tide from the rock wall. Whiting and flathead in sand basin. Mud crabs in the canals and around Kawana Way.

Caloundra: Squid off the rocky headland at Moffat and Kings Beaches. A few trevally on the high tide in Pelican Waters. Bream and whiting on the banks opposite Golden Beach. Flathead and catches of big whiting throughout the northern end of the passage. Bream and whiting in the lower end of Currimundi Lake.
