Local Fishing Report: Friday 2014-11-14


Strong Wind Warning today for Sunshine Coast Waters with conditions becoming fairly rough offshore with winds cranking up to Northerly 20 to 25 knots, reaching up to 30 knots in the evening. Seas 1.5 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres during the afternoon.  Before the stiff northerly winds there were good catches of  mahi mahi, school mackerel, yellowtail king fish, wahoo and amberjack from Caloundra 12 mile. Gold band snapper, big tusk fish, an 11kg amberjack, wahoo, cod, yellowtail king fish, mahi mahi and pearl perch from the Barwon Banks. Quality cobia from Luguna Bay.Yellowtail king and school mackerel on Currimundi Reef. Grass sweetlip and small snapper on the gneerings.  School mackerel at Caloundra 12 Mile.


Noosa: Flathead, bream, good whiting and trevally near the river mouth and in the Sound. A few big bream off Culgoa Pt over night. Whiting up to 34cm in the Frying Pan and opposite Munna Point. The odd tailor and trevally in Woods Bay. Jack and trevally in Weyba Creek. Try for a few jack and school jew in between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Schools of herring around Chambers Island on the incoming tide. There's been flathead, bream and jack from Dunethin Rock and Petrie Creek. Trevally and bream from Cotton Tree. Jack and the odd bigger trevally in and around the Cod Hole. A few whiting in the lower river and around the Bli Bli Islands. Mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Kawana: The beaches will be blown out today so best to fish in the sheltered estuary's. Bream with the bigger fish at night around the moorings and whiting in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River. Flathead and mangrove jack in Kawana Canals and in Mountain Creek. Golden trevally around Minyama island. Giant trevally and School jew around McKenzies Bridge.

Caloundra: Flathead, whiting and bream in Currimundi Lake. Whiting inside the bar, on the NE tip of Bribie Island and along Golden Beach. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk. Mangrove jack and trevally in Pelican Waters and in Coochin Creek. A few sand crabs throughout Pumicestone Passage.
