Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2014-11-18


Winds will be northerly 10 to 15 knots tending northeasterly in the middle of the day. Seas and swell around around the 1m mark. Snapper, sweetlip, maori cod and tusk fish have been taken from the gneerings. Top Catch Charters caught sweetlip, tusk fish and snapper at the caloundra 9nm. School mackerel and cobia from coolum reef. Snapper, cobia, red throat, pearl perch, amberjack, fusilier and hussar from the Barwon Banks.


Noosa: Flathead, bream, good whiting and trevally near the river mouth and in the Sound. A few big bream off Culgoa Pt over night. Whiting up to 34cm in the Frying Pan and opposite Munna Point and in Lake Cooroibah. Bream, whiting and cod in Weyba Creek. Mangrove jack around the bridge pylons, jetties and snaggy banks particularly between the lakes. Big eyed trevally on lure from Dog Beach.

Maroochydore: There's been flathead, bream and jack from Dunethin Rock. Trevally and jacks in Petrie Creek. Flathead and bream from Cotton Tree. Jacks, tarpon, trevally and flathead in the cod hole. A few whiting in the lower river and around the Bli Bli Islands. Mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Kawana: Dart on the southern side of Point Cartwright. Bream with the bigger fish at night around the moorings and whiting in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River. Flathead and mangrove jack in Kawana Canals and in Mountain Creek. Golden trevally around Minyama island. Giant trevally and School jew around McKenzies Bridge.

Caloundra: Small snapper off the rocks at Kings Beach, squid around Kings Beach swimming pool and boat ramp. Flathead, jack, whiting and bream in Currimundi Lake. Whiting inside the bar, on the NE tip of Bribie Island and along Golden Beach. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk. Mangrove jack and trevally in Pelican Waters and in Coochin Creek. A few sand crabs throughout Pumicestone Passage.

Top Catch Charters crew caught grass sweetlip to 2kg from Caloundra 9 mile last week.
