Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2014-12-09


Offshore waters: Things are looking good with winds at 10 knots variable winds during the day, swell and seas around the 1m mark. There have been a few good Spanish and spotty mackerel between Coolum and Pt Cartwright. Also mulloway and Spanish mackerel and tusk fish on North Reef. Spanish and spotty Mackeral on Sunshine Reef and out from the national park. Snapper, sweetlip, maori cod and tusk fish have been taken from the Gneerings. School and spotty mackerel from Raper Shoal, the 5 mile, off Kings Beach.


Noosa: Bream, trevally, mangrove jack and flathead at the Noosa River mouth. Bream and flathead along the Tewantin reach and flathead at Noosaville. Jack and big eyed trevally in Woods Bays. Good quality whiting up in the Frying Pan and opposite Munna Point and in the entrance to Lake Cooroibah. Mangrove jack in between the lakes from the Noosaville reach to Lake Cootharaba.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack in Petrie Creek, from Bli Bli and the islands. Trevally, tailor to 60cm, flathead released to 90cm in the cod hole. Trevally and school jew from Godfrey's Road and Twin Waters. Plenty of whiting on hawk and atomic whiting in the middle river. Mud crabs in the deeper channel of the middle and upper reaches and the odd one in the canals.

Kawana: Bream, flathead and whiting in the Mooloolah River. Bigger bream at night around the moorings. Whiting from La Balsa sand basin. Whiting, trevally and mangrove jack in Mountain Creek and around McKenzies bridge. Muddies on the move in the canal system.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along the beaches and bream at dawn and dusk at Moffat Beach. Good trevally and whiting in Currimundi Lake. Flathead, bream and golden trevally around the Boardwalk. Whiting and trevally opposite the Power Boat Club and at Bells Creek mouth and tarpon around Pelican Waters Bridge. A few sand and mud crabs throughout Pumicestone Passage and in the creeks.
