Local Fishing Report: Friday 2015-09-11


Will be a choppy early today and rough by evening with winds southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, decreasing to 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon. Seas will be 1.5 to 2 metres and conditions tomorrow will ease back and be east to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Wild Thing 2 fished North Reef for catches of moses perch, teraglin jewfish, venus tusk fish, sweetlip, gold spot cod and coral trout. Also snapper, amberjack and yellowtail king on the Hards and pearl perch and amberjack at Wide Caloundra, snapper at Caloundra 5 Mile and the NW Fairway Buoy, longtail tuna offshore from Moffat Beach. Grass sweetlip, snapper and spangled emperor from Murphy's Reef. Snapper to 4kg, grass sweetlip and maori cod from Arkwright shoal.


Noosa: Reports of plenty of quality tailor on the bite up on Fraser Island at present. There's tailor and dart being caught along North Shore. Trevally and solid flathead in Woods Bay. Catches of bream are slowing down but still plenty in the deep holes and around structure throughout the River, with a 40cm bream taken at the Tewantin boat ramp and a number of quality bream taken at Munna Beach. Good whiting and flathead at the river mouth and in Weyba Creek.

Maroochydore: Flathead from Bli Bli, Chambers Island and the Cod Hole to 60cm on Zerek soft plastics. Trevally and school jew in Petrie Creek. Big bream in the river mouth over night. Bream, trevally, and a few chopper tailor feeding and flathead between the Cod Hole and Chambers Island. Flathead, bream and trevally from Dunethin rock. Mud crabs in the middle river.

Kawana: Jew at dawn along Kawana Beach, tailor and school mackerel off the rocks at Point Cartwright and along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth. Still a few good bream and golden trevally from the moorings, rock walls and lower river with better quality fish over night and dawn and dusk. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin and flathead. Trevally and flathead in Mountain Creek reach.

Caloundra: Chopper tailor and flathead at the northern end of Bribie Island. Good quality flathead to 68cm along the drop offs throughout the Passage. Whiting at the mouth of Coochin and Bells Creeks and school jew near Pelican Waters Bridge. Flathead along the drop offs in the Passage and bream around Military and the Coastguard Jetties.
