Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2015-10-10

Choppy conditions today, so be prepared to stay in close or in the bays, with winds easterly 15 to 20 knots and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre around midday. As conditions improve possibly later today and definitely tomorrow try at the Jew Shoal where there's been 4kg cobia and the 8kg yellowfin tuna and spanish mackerel at the Mooloolaba Blinker. Coral trout, snapper and moses perch at Caloundra 12 Mile and snapper and tuskfish on Murphys Reef.

Noosa: Grant Budd caught and released a 98cm flathead while drifting a pilchard in the lower estuary. Still the odd few tailor and quality whiting in the lower river. Quality trevally 40 and 60cm and flathead in Woods Bay. A few big flathead and still plenty of bream in Weyba Creek. Mangrove jack in the deep holes in Noosa Sound and Woods Bay. A few sand crabs in the lower river and mud crabs in the Lakes.

Maroochydore: There's dart and the odd tailor along Maroochy North Shore. Yesterday, Robert Whiting caught a couple more trevally near the Cod Hole and missed a huge tailor bigger than his last one. He was using a large live silver biddy for bait, but slack line allowed it to spit the bait and hooks. Trevally to 65cm and the odd big tailor bream in the Cod Hole. Good catches of big flathead throughout the river at present. Mud crabs in the upper and sand crabs in the lower river. Whiting along the Twin Water stretch on high tide and up around Bli Bli.

Kawana: Bream along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth, flathead and whiting in the lower reaches. Try for mangrove jack around the rock walls and bridges. A few good size whiting showing up around Mountain Creek. Good catches of quality sand crabs in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River

Caloundra: Good flathead on both sides of Caloundra Bar and on the drop offs and sand banks in the top end of the Passage. Whiting on the banks off Golden Beach. Bream and a few mangrove jack showing up in the canals and a few mangrove jack on live bait and lures in Bells Creek. Whiting and flathead in Coochin Creek. Some good catches of sand crabs in the passage and muddies in the creeks.
