Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2015-09-23


Strong Wind Warning today for Sunshine Coast Waters as  winds will be southeast to southwesterly 20 to 30 knots tending southerly in the middle of the day. Seas 2 to 3 metres. Good idea to stay in sheltered waters today.


Noosa: There's big whiting to 38cm showing up in the lower river and tailor early morning and flathead at the Noosa River mouth and Frying Pan. Also a 65cm flathead that they caught on the run-in tide around Crab Island. Still bream around the structures and deep holes throughout the river. Mangrove jack in the deep holes in Noosa Sound and Woods Bay, bream, whiting and trevally at the entrance to Lake Cooroibah and mud crabs in the Lakes.

Maroochydore: Reports of tailor at the river mouth and along Mudjimba Beach over night. Good flathead in Petrie Creek, Bli Bli and Chambers Island. Still a few big bream about, try off Chambers Island and in the river mouth particularly over night. Bream and several good trevally in the the Cod Hole. School jew in the deeper holes between Bli Bli bridge and Coolum Creek. Few numbers of sand crabs in the lower river.

Kawana: Tailor, good flathead, trevally and school mackerel along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth. Still a few good bream and golden trevally from the moorings, rock walls and lower river with better quality fish over night and dawn and dusk. Trevally, flathead and mud crabs in Mountain Creek and the canals. Golden Trevally, around Minyama Island. Jew over night and whiting near McKenzies Bridge and sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Caloundra: Tailor at Buddina and dart at Currimundi Beach. Bream and a few mangrove jack showing up in the canals. Good quality flathead along the drop offs throughout the Passage. Whiting and flathead in Coochin Creek. Whiting opposite the mouth of Bells Creek. School jew near Pelican Waters Bridge.
