Local Fishing Report: Monday 2019-11-11

Offshore: Today conditions will be pretty good for most of the day with winds easterly about 10 knots tending east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots early in the morning then tending north to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the late afternoon and evening and seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening. Tomorrows conditions will be rough with winds northerly 15 to 25 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots during the afternoon and seas 1 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres during the afternoon or evening. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini did trip to Sunshine Reef over the weekend. Conditions were pretty good with little swell on the bar and no current. We caught squire, grass emperor, painted sweetlip and a purple rock cod or blue Maori cod. Sunshine Reef had grassy sweetlip, coral trout, snapper and tusk fish. Double island Point has had good pearl perch, moses perch, gold spot cod, snapper, grassy sweetlip and venus tusk. Spangled emperor, venus tuskfish and small snapper from Murphy's reef. Snapper, mack tuna and moses perch from Coolum Reef. Snapper, cobia, spangled emperor and pearl perch from Caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Giant and golden trevally and good quality flathead being released in the lower river and Woods Bays. A few good whiting showing up from throughout the river and the frying pan. Flathead, queenfish and bream some up to 34cm along the Tewantin stretch as well.

Maroochydore: Whiting throughout the lower river. The odd tailor, trevally and flathead in the Cod Hole zone. Several quality mangrove jack, GT's and Queenfish from the rock bars in the middle and upper river. A few mud crabs in the creeks.

Mooloolaba: Whiting from Mountain Creek and the La Balsa sand basin. Big bream and trevally from the Kawana boat ramp. Flathead and trevally in Mooloolaba Canals. Bream and Mangrove jack in the creeks and upper river and from the Parrearra Weir.

Caloundra: Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach. Big grunter the lower Passage and a few flathead south of Coochin Creek. Trevally, cod and mangrove jack in the creeks and Pelican Waters. Few mud crabs in the creeks.
