Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2019-07-13

Offshore: Reasonable conditions close inshore early and choppy to rough out wide later in the day with winds, west to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots. Winds in the evening becoming southwesterly 15 to 20 knots and reaching 20 to 25 knots at times offshore, and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the morning, then increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres later in the evening. Tomorrow will be okay as well with winds southerly 15 to 20 knots, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon afternoon. Inshore winds tending lighter 10 to 15 knots during the morning, then southeasterly below 10 knots during the afternoon, with seas 1 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the afternoon or evening. Wild Thing 2 skipper Nat Turner fished North Reef where they caught a couple of quality cobia, and plenty of pan-sized reefies including snapper, pearl perch, tusk fish, grass sweetlip and moses perch.We are at the beginning of a good snapper season, so get out when you can. North Reefs has had a few good catches of Moses perch, pearl perch, venus tusk fish, snapper and sweetlip. Sunshine Reef has had spanish mackerel, coral trout, snapper and a few good sweetlip. Snapper and tusk fish from Mooloolaba 8 mile. Spanish mackerel, snapper and tuskfish around the Blinker. Snapper and mackerel from Caloundra 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa:  Bream, quality golden trevally to 65cm and flathead to 60cm from the river mouth. Whiting between makepeace Island and Lake Cooroibah. Flathead along the Tewantin Stretch. Trevally and bream in Woods Bays. Trevally and mangrove jack from Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Trailor and trevally from the middle river. Quality bream upstream from the Cod Hole and the lower river. Flathead to 60cm from the Creek mouths, the Bli Bli Islands and Chambers Island. Bream, Tarwhine and flathead from the river mouth.

Mooloolaba: Tailor of the rock walls. A few gar fish around the moorings on the incoming tide. Bream and several dusky flathead and golden trevally from the boat moorings and canals. Cod and flathead from the twin bridges. Mud crabs in the canal and Mountain Creek.

Caloundra: Luderick off the Boardwalk. Bream from Military Jetty, the boardwalk and golden beach stretch. Bream and trevally in Pelican Waters. School jew in the deeper holes of the northern passage.
